Motivated graduate students and postdocs are welcome to join our research group at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (Mechanical Engineering Department).
Our primary research interest is to provide a substantive knowledge on the mechanics and microstructural evolution in complex materials systems under extreme environments via predictive modeling, and thus facilitate the development of new science-based high performance materials with novel functions and unprecedented strength, durability, and resistance to traditional degradation and failure. More details about Prof. Fan's background can be found in here.
Graduate students with physics and atomistic modeling background are preferred.
Postdocs with modeling experience on grain boundaries and their interactions with extrinsic defects (e.g. dislocations, impurities, etc) are particularly encouraged to apply.
