Michael Dority

Birthplace: Bangor, ME

Undergraduate Institution: Michigan State University

Graduate School: University of Maine

About Me: Between his undergraduate and graduate careers, Mike spent a few years as a Peace Corps volunteer navigating third world issues, which prepared him well for years working in the biotech and large pharma sector… despots, coups, hostile take-overs, etc. He worked at the neuroscience company Gliatech, in Cleveland, OH, for 12 years, managing labs and watching the full growth cycle from 7 employees to 120 to implosion. He then joined Pharmacia in Kalamazoo, MI in time to see it devoured by Pfizer and get moved to Ann Arbor for 5 years before Pfizer announced closure of the Ann Arbor site. Now, following some years developing infection models in the contract research sector, Mike prefers the quiet life. Despite this he enjoys working with Vince and is the program administrator for the Host Microbiome Initiative.

Mike is very active with the Michigan Nut Growers Association, teaches tree grafting, enjoys long walks on moonlit beaches, and eating small animals.
