Welcome to the Xi Lab!
Biofilms/Microbiome, Water Quality and Human Health
Located in the new Research Tower of the school of Public Health at the University of Michigan, Xi Laboratory, directed by Professor Chuanwu Xi, is dedicated to the research on biofilms/microbiome, water quality and human health in three major inter-related areas: (A) molecular mechanisms of biofilm development; (B) characterization of biofilms and microbial community in industrial and clinical settings and its impact on human health; and (C) development of novel approaches for biofilm control. The research has been supported by various sponsors including federal agencies, industry, and private foundations. Some of the research will not only contribute to the basic sciences but also improve the awareness of public of certain emerging public health issues and has a great translational potential to improve human health and industrial products.
