Dr. Hughes' specializes in surgical diseases of the endocrine system including the thyroid, parathyroids, adrenals and pancreas with a particular interest in thyroid cancer.

Dr. Hughes' academic interests include clinical research in the treatment of thyroid cancer, hyperparathyroidism and neuroendocrine tumors of the intestine and adrenal gland as well as focus on medical student and resident education in surgery.
