Pediatric stroke incidence is higher in children with sickle cell disease as compared to other children. However, screening can identify those at high-risk for stroke. Sarah's research utilizes Michigan Medicaid data for an 8-year time period (2002-2009) to quantify and identify individual- and area-level correlates of missed opportunities for screening among children with sickle cell disease. The results of this research could inform the development of targeted interventions at multiple levels (individual, area) aimed at improving screening in this high-risk population.
