Kerppola Lab Research on Transcription Regulation
By comparing the effects of REST/NRSF deletion on transcription in embryonic stem cells and in differentiating neurons, we found that REST/NRSF both activates and represses genes depending on the binding site (Ren, 2011).
By visualizing the genes that are bound by dKeap1 and CncC and by measuring changes in their transcription in mutant larvae, we found that dKeap1 and CncC regulate transcription of both ecdysone biosynthetic and response genes during Drosophila metamorphosis (Deng, 2013).
By comparing the effects of KAP1 deletion and of differentiation on transcription in embryonic stem cells, we found that KAP1Â both activates pluripotency-associated genes and represses differentiation- inducible genes in ES cells (Cheng, 2014).
