NIH Funded Project on totally implantable auditory prostheses. Design, modeling, and experiments aimed at developing ultraminiature middle ear sensors which will enable the complete implantation of cochlear implants and hearing aids (with no components outside of the body). Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) piezoelectric sensors make this possible, and this project highlights both bench-top and in situ testing of the transducers along with close collaboration with physicians.
