For many of our Cloud CoP meetings in the past, we have been able to embrace those attending virtually. We are looking forward to a fully virtual meeting this week, and we have some great topics lined up. The theme for this meeting will be, Using cloud in response to COVID-19.
Peter Knoop has volunteered to kick us off with a brief presentation on how he used AWS AppStream to keep a GIS class humming along as they moved from an on campus computer lab to virtual instruction.
John Thiels will then share how he used Globus to facilitate the needs of a Film, Television and Media course that was relying on the high speed campus network and portable hard drive sharing to collaboratively produce a documentary film until they lost access to both.
We would very much like the rest of you to come with your own story of how you used cloud technology in a new way or for a new purpose in response to COVID-19 and the requisite move to virtual teaching, researching, and working.
For calendar 2020, we are meeting quarterly, with meetings in February, May, August, and November. Let us know if you have strong feelings about the timing and tempo of our gatherings.
