Dr. Roya Gholami is a tenured Associate Professor of Management Information Systems at the University of Illinois Springfield (2019-present), with nearly three decades of international experience in Information Systems scholarship, teaching, mentoring, and academic leadership. She previously served as Full Professor at NEOMA Business School in France (2018–2019) and as a tenured Associate Professor at UIS (2015–2018), following academic appointments at Aston Business School in the United Kingdom. 

Her research spans IT value, Green IS (digital sustainability), IT for development (ICT4D), digital transformation, responsible technology, and IT adoption. She has published in leading IS and interdisciplinary journals, including Information & Management, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Information Systems Frontiers, Communications of the Association for Information Systems, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, and Annals of Operations Research.

Roya is recognized as an AIS Distinguished Member—Cum Laude and currently serves as President of AIS SIG Green (2025–2027). She has also served as Guest Editor for a JAIS Special Issue on Information Systems Solutions for Environmental Sustainability and in numerious Track Chair, Associate Editor, and Workshop Chair roles at major international IS conferences, including ICIS, ECIS, AMCIS, PACIS, and DESRIST. Her teaching closely integrates her research expertise, with courses spanning Management Information Systems, Research Methods, Information Systems for Environmental Sustainability, Green Information and Operations Management, and Data Analysis and Business Intelligence.
