Field Placement Clearances:
Both Education 413 or Education 419 have a field component where you are required to spend some time in public schools. These include a criminal background check with fingerprinting, a child protection registry, and a TB test. Here is where to find information on when to get these clearances, how often they must be done, and how to schedule them through the Office of Clinical Studies.
Praxis Exams:
There are certain exams that you need to pass as you progress toward your degree and seek teaching certification. The Core Academic Skills for Educators test must be passed to register for Math 380, so it is recommended you take this before the spring of your Junior year. Some students may be exempt from some or all of the portions of this exam based on SAT or ACT scores as well as overall GPA. More information on this exam can be found here:
The Praxis 2 subject test in Math must be taken by all Math Education majors and passing with a certain score is required for certification in Delaware. More information can be found here:
Certification in a state other than Delaware:
