Samira Yitiz

I graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 2016 with a Bachelors degree in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology. Since graduating I have worked in academia and industry pursuing research on varied topics. I decided to go back to school to specialize my research focus and joined the PhD program in MCD Biology at UCSC in 2022. In the Carpenter Lab my research focuses on characterizing long non-coding RNAs that regulate inflammation. When not in the lab I enjoy getting outdoors, seeing live music, and spending time with my dog Crystal.
