I received my BS in Chemistry from UC Santa Cruz in 2014 and spent six years at Genentech exploring protein science and drug development. After earning a Master’s in Biochemistry from Texas State University in 2022, I returned to UC Santa Cruz for a PhD in the CB3 track. My passion for RNA biology and RNA modifications, ignited by a cancer biology course, led me to join the Carpenter Lab and Brooks Lab as a joint student. My research focuses on RNA modifications in macrophages, investigating their role in immune responses under LPS stimulation using long read sequencing technology.
Outside the lab, I enjoy hiking, running, beach walks, and sharing science with my young niece and nephew. I’m also passionate about poetry slam with a rap twist, blending creative expression with my scientific pursuits.
