Homework

Students are responsible for writing down their homework each day in their agenda. I provide a specific time for this each day.

Reading - Students should be reading for at least 45 minutes a night in an appropriate level book. This is the best way to grow reading comprehension and fluency. They will either be reading a book of their choosing or an assigned reading passage with questions. Each week we will have a set of words based on a prefix or suffix we are learning for word study. There will be a test each Friday. Students will do most of the work in class, however, there will be a Quizlet for word list and they also have a paper copy of words and definitions from which to study as needed from home.

Math - Students will have some practice each night of what they learned in class that day. If they struggle with a concept and have tried but can't complete the homework a parent can write a note on the homework. The student needs to let me know that they struggled with the concept the next day. Homework is not graded, but is essential in mastering new concepts.

Science - homework will be as needed and usually to study for tests

Social Studies - as needed to do research or work on projects
