Due in October
October 1st: UNC Chapel Hill Morehead-Cain Scholarship-seeks students who excel academically (typically in the top 10% of their class), displays leadership, a commitment to service and involvement in physical activity that promotes a healthy lifestyle (does not have to be an organized, school sport). Review the information and qualifications for this scholarship at https://www.moreheadcain.org/. Piedmont may nominate 3 students for this scholarship (school nominations due by 6/30/25) or students may self nominate if not selected as a school nominee. Scholarship application will be available on August 15th at moreheadcain.org. Applicants must apply for UNC admissions by October 1st (early action) or January 1st (regular decision).
October 10th: Alex Kahle Memorial Scholarship/UC Parade Princess-each UCPS high school will be able to submit one senior candidate to be considered for the UC Parade Princess/Alex Kahle Memorial Scholarship. Candidates should reflect leadership, academic excellence, and commitment to community service. Consideration will be based on students application and interview. *This is not a pageant*. October 15th **Nomination deadline: UNCC Levine Scholars-seeks exceptional students who demonstrate a commitment to community service, excel academically with a sustained passion for knowledge, intellectual curiosity & ethical leadership (the average weighted GPA for Levine's 2025 finalists is 4.53). Levine Scholars receive an award that covers 4 years of tuition, room & board, books & fees plus summer experiences, study abroad & internships.To be nominated, see Mrs. Butera in the Counseling Office no later than October 15th (UNCC admissions application must be submitted by 11/1; Levine scholarship applications due 11/15). November 1st: NC State Park Scholarship-applicants excel academically in most challenging courses (minimum unweighted 3.8 gpa), demonstrates leadership, committed to meaningful service & a high degree of character. Park Scholars receive a full scholarship including room & board, books, computer stipend, funds for study abroad, research projects, educational trips. Students must apply for the Park Scholarship and NC State admissions by November 1st. Visit www.park.ncsu.edu/apply to begin your application.
November 1st **Nomination Deadline: Davidson College Belk Scholarship-recognizes students with demonstrated academic excellence, integrity, intellectual curiosity, willingness to take risks, and potential to be change agents in both their local and global communities.Covers tuition, fees, food, and housing for four years, plus $6,000 in special opportunity stipends. Piedmont can nominate 2 students to be considered for this opportunity. Send a resume to Mrs. Butera by October 28th if you'd like to be considered. Admissions applications to Davidson are due by November 15th.
November 7th **Nomination Deadline: Wofford College-Wofford Scholars-recognizes high-achieving seniors who rank in the top 10% of their class, have qualifying test scores: 1300 on the PSAT/SAT or 28 on the PLAN/ACT & are active in leadership and service roles in their school/community. Students who meet the above criteria and would like to be nominated, see Mrs. Butera in the Counseling Office no later than November 7th. Students may also self-nominate by visiting: Self-Nomination Form. Nominees must submit their Common App admissions application by 11/1 (if applying binding Early Decision) or by 11/15 (if applying non-binding Early Action and complete a Wofford Scholars interview on 11/22.

Army ROTC Scholarships: Army ROTC offers generous merit-based scholarships to qualified students. They can defray the full cost of tuition, and provide additional tax-free allowances for books, supplies, equipment and necessary fees. Army ROTC Information.

October 31st: Delta Xi Nu Chapter/Omega High School Essay Contest-submit essay on topic: "What impact do you believe social media is having on mental health and whyis it important to address this issue?". Essay must be between 700-750 words. Scholarships between $1,000 and $5,000 available to contest winners. Submit essays to: thedeltaxinu@gmail.com before midnight on October 31st.

November 15th: NC Teaching Fellows-seniors interested in a career in education can receive up to $5,000 per semester in financial aid by pursuing a degree at 1 of the 8 participating colleges (Teaching Fellows Participating Colleges) in an approved area of licensure. This is a forgiveable scholarship loan that is repaid by working as a teacher for either 1 or 2 years depending on the type of school. Applicants must have an unweighted 3.0 gpa. November 27th: American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Contest- the High School Oratroical Contest is a public speaking contest in which high school students in grades 9-12 are judged on their knowledge and communication about the U.S. Constitution. The winner will advance to the regional, then perhaps state and even national competitions. Scholarship awards at higher levels of competition range from a few hundred dollars to $25,000 for the national first-place finisher. The local first place finisher will receive a $50 award to help cover travel expenses to the Regional (District 17) contest is February 8 2025 for Union, Cabarrus, and Stanly counties. Applicants are likely to be college-bound, high academic achievers who are comfortable with public speaking. The most successful contestants usually have a keen interest in government or civic organizations and plan to study social sciences - history and perhaps law - as undergraduates and beyond. November 29th: Women In Transportation Scholarship- open to women with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and intend to enroll in a transportation-related degree program to pursue a career in a transportation-related field. December 1st: Eugene McDermott Scholars (U of Texas at Dallas)-offers a full ride to top students who are engaged in leadership opportunties and community service. Applicants must first complete an admissions application before December 1st through Common App. Learn more at utdallas.edu/mcdermott.
December 2nd: University of Virginia Jefferson Scholars-awarded to high school seniors who demonstrate excellence & exceptional potential in leadership, scholarship & citizenship. Covers full cost of attendance to UVA & supplemental enrichment activities. Piedmont may nominate 1 student to be considered. Send a resume to Mrs. Butera by November 8th if you'd like to be considered.
December 24th: Monroe-Union Breakfast Rotary Club Scholarship-at least 1 scholarship will be awarded to a senior at each Union County high school! Award is based on community service. Applicants need to write a 250-300 word essay on Rotary's motto "Service Above Self". Application and essay are due by December 24th. January 15th: Meredith College Full Ride Scholarships-award based on a minimum 3.75 unweighted gpa, be in the top 10% of their class, demonstrated leadership and community service. 4 year scholarship covers full tuition, food, housing, fees, books and supplies, study abroad, cultural and social events & networking opportunities. To apply, students must submit a Full Ride Scholarship application, resume, essay & 2 recommendations. Students are encouraged to apply for admissions by the Early Action deadline of December 2nd. January 30th: Fidelity Scholars Program-need-based scholarship for students attending an in-state college or university and have an unweighted gpa of 2.5-3.5. Students must demonstrate financial need and/or be eligible for a Pell grant based on FAFSA submission. In addition to the scholarship, recipients are connected with mentors, college success coaches, provided financial education & mental health support. Learn more at UNCF.org/fidelityscholars.

February 28th: TheDream.US Scholarships-offers a scholarship that is available to undocumented, TPS, and DACA students who arrived in the US before November 1, 2019 and wish to apply to and attend Wingate. TheDream.US also provides national scholarships for immigrant students with or without DACA or TPS who came to the U.S. before 11/1/2019. Visit www.thedream.us for information and to apply.
February 12th: Weddington Optimist Club Essay Scholarship- Applicants should submit a 700-800 word essay on the topic: "Optimism: How It Connects Us". Essays must be emailed to steve@jarrellhomes.com no later than 2/12.
February 19th: Mary Doctor Fine Arts Scholarship- Applicants must plan to attend college for fine arts (music, dance, theatre, technical theatre, arts administration, arts education, film, digital arts, studio arts) & demonstrate significant financial need. February 19th: Gordon Hay Scholarship- For students planning to study a non-performing area of theater (play writing; set, costume, lighting or sound design; arts administration; stage management; production management; technical direction). March 1st: Union Power College Scholarship-seniors within Union Power's five-county service area – Union, Stanly, Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, and Rowan counties qualify to apply for a $1,000 scholarship. Applicants must be the child of a Union Power Cooperative member or live in a home served by Union Power Cooperative, be a high school senior in the current graduating class & planning to attend a North Carolina-accredited college or university.To apply, visit union-power.com/collegescholarships or scan the QR code in the Canvas announcement.
March 1st: Kiwanis Club of Monroe Scholarship- 3 $2,500 scholarships awarded to Union County seniors who possess strong character, participation in community service & academic achievement. Application, transcript, resume & essay must be postmarked by March 1st. Visit https://kiwanisofmonroenc.org/scholarships or pick up a copy in the counseling office.
March 1st: Horatio Alger Scholarship-**for high school juniors** scholarships range from $10,000-$25,000 for students who demonstrate financial need ($65,000 or lower gross household income) & plan to attend a 4 year college and have a minimum 2.0 gpa. Apply at horatioalger.org/scholarships.
March 1st: Charlotte Relocation Council Jane Osborne Memorial Scholarship-$1,000 awarded to a senior who has relocated to the Charlotte area sometime between the start of 9th and 12th grade. See attachment in Canvas announcement for application.
March 13th: Student of Success Scholarship- 2 $1,000 scholarships awarded to UC seniors. Applicants must submit an essay, one short response & list of extracurricular activities. Visit www.StateofSuccess.org to apply.
March 13th: Wilma McCurdy Memorial Scholarship-for students planning to attend Mars Hill University, Gardner-Webb University, Wingate University, Meredith College, Wake Forest University, Campbell University or Chowan University. Applicants must have a minimum 2.0 unweighted gpa and demonstrate financial need. Apply at www.csascholars.org/mccurdy
March 17th: State Employees Credit Union "People Helping People" Scholarship- $10,000 scholarship to senior who demonstrates leadership, integrity & commitment to community service. Eligible students must be SECU members or eligible for membership through a parent, have a 2.5 unweighted gpa or higher, filed their FAFSA & been accepted to & plans to attend one of the 16 UNC system universities. Students interested in applying must see Mrs. Butera no later than March 10th.
March 24th: Michael A. DeMayo Arrive Alive Scholarship- (10) $5,000 scholarships will be awarded. Applicants must have a 3.0 gpa or higher and plan to attend a 4 year college. Applications include a transcript, 2 letters of recommendation, photo and presentation (essay, billboard, brochure or video) that discourages drinking & driving and distracted driving. March 31st: Pee Dee Electric Awareness Scholarship-awarded to students who both live in the Pee Dee Electric, NC service area and are served by Pee Dee Electric. Applicants must live in a residence that receives electric service from Pee Dee Electric, have a 3.0 or higher gpa throughout grades 9 to 12 & must attend either a 2-year or 4-year accredited college or university. March 24th: LAWA Scholarships (Latin Americans Working for Achievement)- students must be of Hispanic origin and have a 2.5 GPA or higher. For more information and to apply, visit https://www.lawanc.org/scholarship-program.
March 25th: Union County EOP Scholarship- 3 scholarships awarded: UC EOP Scholarship for seniors whose parent is a member of UCAEOP; UCAEOP Memorial Scholarship for seniors who are children of UCPS employees; Billy Stegall Memorial Scholarship open to all UCPS seniors. Application available here: UC EOP Scholarship Application. Applications must be typed and turned into Ms. Butera no later than 10:00 am Monday, March 25th.

April 1st: Master Gardener Volunteer Association of Union County Scholarship-$1,000 awarded to a UC senior planning to major in botany, environmental studies, forestry, landscape architecture, horticulture, crop sciences, local foods, animal husbandry or related fields. April 30th: Smile Scholarship in Memory of Eddie DeBerry-$1,000 awarded to a Piedmont senior planning on attending a 2 or 4 year college in the fall after graduation. To apply, students should complete an essay describing a community service project they participated in that promoted positivity and how it impacted people. Essays must be turned into the Counseling Office no later than April 30th.

May 1st: Piedmont Class of 1965 Memorial Scholarship-for seniors with a 2.5 gpa or higher planning on attending a 2 or 4 year college and has been involved in extracurricular activities and community service. Pick up a copy of the application in the Counseling Office.
