Fort Raleigh

Our first stop on day 1 is Fort Raleigh. 

Fort Raleigh preserves the site of the lost Roanoke Colony, established in 1587. This was the first English settlement in North America. There's a lot to learn here, including:               

• Sir Walter Raleigh's influence on NC history

  • The Freedmen's Colony

  • Native American culture and crafts
