The research version can be purchased from OIT's Software Catalog and installed on university-owned equipment.
Students can download ArcGIS free of charge for their personal laptops.
ALSO - you need to request an account in order to use ArcGIS in the computer labs.
Log in with your student AD account, ucinetID@ad.uci.edu
Click on ArcGIS under the "AntSoft Software Catalog" heading.
Scroll down and you'll see a request form on the left-side column. For students, it'll show up as $0.00 cost.
Submit the form after you enter your name.
This will give you access to download the software and a license to use the software on your laptop and in the computer labs.
OIT will provide you with further instructions on how to log into ArcGIS.

ArcGIS licensing is now by "named-user". And, it requires SSO (single sign-on) authentication.
Please direct your students to our Engineering ArcGIS website for instructions on how to obtain ArcGIS.
Your students will be forwarded to OIT's ArcGIS order form and given a named-user license and access to download software. With the named-user license, they'll need to log into ArcGIS portal when using the software in the Engineering computer labs. They'll use this same account when using ArcGIS on their personal laptops.
OIT will provide you with further instructions on how to log into ArcGIS.
In order to use ArcGIS in Engineering computer labs, your students must first to go to OIT and request an ArcGIS account.
Instructors will need to purchase a license. Please ask your department for an account number.
