A COMMEMORATIVE REFLECTION ON THE

EDMONTON TORNADO AND HAILSTORM, 1987

ONE DECADE LATER

Preface

This web site was assembled to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Edmonton tornado. It consists of an Atlas of the Edmonton Tornado and a collection of unpublished Photographs from the Edmonton Tornado.

The Atlas, by Robert Charlton, Bradley Kachman and Lubomir Wojtiw, is a public version of a research paper that will be published in due course. ATTENTION: Permission for commercial use of the Atlas must be obtained in writing from the authors.

Some of the photographs, assembled for the web site by Bob Charlton, Chuck Humphrey, Brad Kachman, Randy Pakan, and Lub Wojtiw, were given to the University of Alberta for research purposes. The first six photographs consist of single images, or colllages of images taken from the ground. The final fifteen show selected damage sites from a professional air survey flown by Western Remote Sensing Ltd. (now defunct) on August 4, 1987. The only known copies of the air survey photographs were given to the authors by Alberta Public Safety Services.
