Satellite Workshops

There are a number of satellite workshops around String-Math 2014.

May 2014:

PIMS Undergraduate Workshop on Supersymmetry

PIMS, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada

May 25-31, 2014

https://people.uwec.edu/whitchua/supersymmetry/

The workshop will combine lectures on the mathematics of supersymmetry, emphasizing graph theory and algebraic structures, with problem-solving sessions. Sylvester James Gates, a prominent mathematical physicist at the University of Maryland and recipient of the National Medal of Science, will be the keynote speaker.

GAP 2014: Geometry and Physics

PIMS, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada

May 29-31, 2014

http://www.math.uwaterloo.ca/~gap/

The theme for GAP 2014 is Supersymmetry and Geometry. More information coming soon.

June 2014:

String-Math Summer School at UBC

University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada

June 2-6, 2014

https://www.pims.math.ca/scientific-event/140602-smss

The String Math Summer School is aimed at advancing graduate students and postdocs interested in geometry related to physics. This summer school is intended to be a good preparation for attending the String-Math conference in Alberta in the following week.

Calabi-Yau Manifolds and their Moduli

University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada

June 14-18, 2014

Schedule with titles and abstracts is available here.

Quantum Curves and Quantum Knot Invariants

BIRS, Banff, Canada

June 16-20, 2014

http://www.birs.ca/events/2014/5-day-workshops/14w5073

The goal of the workshop is to explore the mystery surrounding mirror symmetry of quantum knot invariants. Banff is a short 4h drive from Edmonton; a perfect opportunity to combine a visit to Edmonton with a weekend in the beautiful Canadian Rocky Mountains!
