This year, all Science classes will be using the District’s Standards Based Grading Model.

What this means- The purpose for using standards based learning is to ensure the student’s grade is reflective of his/her learning and allows for the student to increase knowledge and skills throughout the course. The final grade is based on the mastery of each learning standard.

There are five reporting strands that will be assessed:

1. Scientific and Engineering Practices

2. Earth's Place in the Universe

3. Earth's Systems

4. Earth and Human Activity

5. Waves and their Applications in Technology

Students are graded on each standard based on a rubric that is specific to each reporting strand. Students will receive the appropriate rubrics at the start of each instructional unit/assignment.

Final grades are NOT an average of scores. At the end of the course, the student’s final grade will be a determination of mastery in each of the course standards.

You should use Infinite Campus as a tool to track completion of assignments.

You can use Tableau to see scores of assignments in each reporting strand.
