Staff new to District 205
● Each 1st year non-tenured teacher needs 40 hours of provided or otherwise approved by District 205 professional development trainings per year.
● Up to 20 hours from new teacher academy will count towards the 40 hour requirement.
● The first 20 hours obtained after regular school hours will be compensated at the workshop rate of $30 per hour.
● Adjustments will be made for teachers who begin employment after the start date of the school year. These teachers will be notified of their PD requirements within 30 days of their hire.
● New teachers hired after the start of the school year will be required to attend relevant portions of the next New Teacher Academy.
Newly hired teachers with 5 or more years of experience
● The district joint professional development committee in conjunction with the mentor coordinators, will meet to determine needs of teachers who fit this category.
● This group of hires will have the amount of provided or otherwise approved by District 205 professional development hours reduced to 15, in addition to a requirement to attend relevant portions of New teacher Academy, not to exceed 15 hours.
● All staff attending New teacher Academy will be paid.
Non Tenured Staff ( Years: 2-4)
● Are required to attend 15 hours of provided or otherwise approved by District 205 professional development trainings.
● Approved professional development outside of the regular day will be compensated at the workshop rate of $30 per hour.
Tenured Staff
● Are required to attend 12 hours of provided or otherwise approved by District 205 professional development trainings.
● Hours obtained beyond the regular day will be compensated at the workshop rate of $30 per hour.
Certified Support Educators
Including: Counselors, deans, Social Workers, School Psychologists, Speech
Pathologists, Library Media Specialists and Nurses…
● Will complete PD activities that meaningfully provide information, skills, strategies, etc. that directly relate to their respective duties.
Want to be a Workshop Trainer?
● Workshop trainers are any person(s) who presents program/training session/workshop at the request of district or building administration.
● Trainer is responsible for the preparation and presentation of the program.
● Trainers receive up to 3 hours of preparation credit for every hour of presentation.
● Compensation is $33.50 per hour for preparation and presentation.
