All the computers based in Brussels will be setup and prepared by the IT Officer. However, if you are based outside Belgium and your computer was ordered for you directly, you will be asked to follow the below instructions to setup your computer:
When setting up a new computer for the first time, try to connect with a local account (meaning without logging into a Microsoft account), see the attached screenshots of what to click on in each step.
For the rest of the setup, you can do them yourself, but you can contact Zsigmond (zsigmond.kovacs@transportenvironment.org) and he will do the rest remotely.
Check for updates, restart your computer and check for updates again once they are finished;
When the initial setup is done, download Chrome (open whatever browser came pre-installed and google “download chrome”) and remove Edge from the taskbar;
Connect to your T&E google account. Setup sync so that your current session is transferred to the new machine;
Uninstall MS Office sample programme from Program Files (this will block the new MS Office download if you don’t remove it) - all the apps. For this go to Settings -> Apps and uninstall everything with a Microsoft symbol
Download https://www.teamviewer.com/en/ With the ID and password from this program IT support can solve any technical software issues.
Download the 2 files from this folder to a new local folder, and follow the instructions which you will find in the same folder.
It may happen that at some point Microsoft will ask you for a product key. However, it can be after weeks or months of use, or maybe never. So just save my email somewhere so you have it handy if you need it. Here it is: P63MD-XN7JR-Q3HP9-TT96V-B7V7M
