Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP) for Developing Countries Students for MS PhD Degree Courses

Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the budget for development cooperation is pleased to offer Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP) for developing countries’ students. Fellowships are available for masters degree programmes, short courses and PhD studies at a Dutch higher education institution.

The NFP aims to help increase both the number and the competencies of skilled staff at a wide range of government and non-government organisations.

The Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) promote capacity building within organisations in 51 countries by providing fellowships for training and education for professionals. The NFP is initiated and fully funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the budget for development cooperation.

Candidates must be a national of, and working and living in one of the countries on the NFP country. Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

Course Level: Fellowships are available for masters degree programmes, short courses and PhD Studies at a Dutch higher education institution which offers the NFP-qualified course.

Study Subject(s): Fellowships are awarded in all subjects offered by Dutch higher education institutions.

Scholarship Award: An NFP fellowship is intended to supplement the salary that the fellow should continue to receive during the study period. The allowance is a contribution towards the costs of living, the costs of tuition fees, visas, travel, insurance and thesis research. If applicable, the fellowship holder is expected to cover the difference between the actual costs and the amount of the personal NFP allowances.

Scholarship can be taken in Netherlands

Eligibility: The fellowships are awarded in a very competitive selection to highly motivated professionals who are in a position to introduce the newly-acquired skills and knowledge into their employing organisation. The NFP is meant for professionals who are nationals of and work and live in one of the 51 NFP countries. The countries have been classified into two categories (I and II). Category I countries are priority countries and will receive more fellowships. Candidates have to be nominated by their employer to be eligible for the fellowship. There also has to be a clear need for training within the context of the organisation. Applicants must meet a number of criteria that support the aim of the NFP to be eligible for a fellowship. To be eligible applicants:

·         Must be a national of, and working and living in one of the countries on the NFP country list;

·         Must have an employer’s statement that complies with the format EP-Nuffic has provided. All information must be provided and all commitments that are included in the format must be endorsed in the statement;

·         Must not be employed by an organisation that has its own means of staff-development. Organisations that are considered to have their own means for staff development are for example: multinational corporations (e.g. Shell, Unilever, Microsoft), large national and/or a large commercial organisations, bilateral donor organisations (e.g. USAID, DFID, Danida, Sida, Dutch ministry of Foreign affairs, FinAid, AusAid, ADC, SwissAid), multilateral donor organisations, (e.g. a UN organisation, the World Bank, the IMF, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, IADB) and international NGO’s (e.g. Oxfam, Plan, Care);

·         Must have an official and valid passport;

·         Must not receive more than one fellowship for courses that take place at the same time;

·         Must have a government statement that meets the requirements of the country in which the employer is established (if applicable).

Monash University Scholarships for International Students in Australia, 2017

Macquarie University Australia Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarships, 2017

The Macquarie University Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship provides a partial tuition fee scholarship for outstanding students to study at Macquarie University North Ryde campus. Canadian Government Scholarships for International Students

The Government of Canada launched the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) program in 2008 to strengthen Canada’s ability to attract and retain world-class doctoral students and establish Canada as a global centre of excellence in research and higher learning. Vanier Scholars demonstrate leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and/or humanities, natural sciences and/or engineering and health.

Up to 167 scholarships are awarded annually.

ITEC Countries in India, 2016-2017TEC/SCAAP Scholarships 

The Government of India is delighted to offer Indian Technical and Economic (ITEC) Programme for 2016-2017 academic year. Citizens of all ITEC countries are eligible to apply for this programme.

These programmes promote the experience, expertise, and resources of the host countries and offer a means by which essential skills and knowledge can be shared with, and benefit, the wider Commonwealth family.

The decision regarding setting up the ITEC programme was predicated on the underlying belief that “it was necessary to establish relations of mutual concern and inter-dependence based not only on commonly held ideals and aspirations but also on solid economic foundations.

Course Level: Scholarship is available for short term training programme

Study Subject: Training is related to areas of national comparative advantage and delivered using resources based in the host country. There are 47 premier institutions conducting 280 short-term, medium-term and long-term courses across seven broad categories:

·         Accounts, Audit, Banking, and Finance

Scholarship Award: Participants will be provided with the following allowances and facilities:

·         Excursion/ economy class air tickets for travel from the capital city of the participant’s country to the training Institute in India and back;

·         Gratis Indian Visa for the duration of the Course;

·         Course fees – borne by Government of India;

·         Accommodation provided by Government of India in hostel/hotel, depending on the Institute. Participants are required to pay for services availed by them such as (a) Room Service, (b) Laundry, (c) Local and outstation telephone calls, fax, etc.;

·         Living Allowance @ Rs. 25,000/ – per month and on pro-rata basis for part thereof to meet expenditure on food, out-of-pocket expenses, etc. The allowance is calculated from the date of arrival till the date of departure;

·         Disbursement of the Living Allowance will be made by the Institute on a weekly/fortnightly basis (as decided by the Institute); the participants are supposed to pay for their meal out of this allowance. In case the Institute makes arrangement for the food, a portion of the allowance will be deducted by the Institute in advance and the rest will be paid to the participants. Participants may wish to bring some extra money for shopping and other dietary needs;

·         Book allowance of Rs. 5000/- for purchase of Course-related books and purchase receipts need to be submitted for reimbursement;

·         Study Tour(s) as part of the Course Curriculum to familiarize with Indian culture and history (which is mandatory);

·         Medical facility is for ailments of immediate and emergency nature occurring in India. No medical reimbursement allowed for ailments of chronic nature. Participants must carry their own medicine for regular and chronic ailments like diabetes, hypertension etc. For regular/chronic ailments, all consultation charges of doctor, medicines etc. would be borne by participants.

·         If any special assistance is required by a participant during his/her stay in India, that should be intimated to Mission as well as to the concerned Institute prior to departure for India. It is advised that participants check with the Institute about the availability of facility required by him/ her.

HKSAR Government Scholarships for International Students in Hong Kong, 2016-2017

The Government of Hong Kong is offering scholarships for local and non-local students for the academic year 2016–2017. These scholarships are available for pursuing full-time degree programmes at participating universities in Hong Kong.

With a view to attracting outstanding local students to advance their studies at home and meritorious non-local students to pursue higher education opportunities in Hong Kong, the HKSAR Government established in 2008 the $1 billion HKSAR Government Scholarship Fund (the Fund) to recognize outstanding local and non-local students.

The aim of education for Hong Kong is to promote students’ whole-person development and life-long learning capabilities. Education helps to unleash human potentials and enhance people qualities and the competitiveness of the HKSAR.

Students need to demonstrate that they have a good level of written and spoken English.

Course Level:  The scholarships are available for pursuing full-time publicly-funded programmes at degree or above levels at the following    p articipating institutions (City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Lingnan University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Education University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Vocational Training Council).

Study Subject(s):  Scholarships are provided to study all the subjects offered by the university.

Scholarship Award: The scholarship is $40,000 per year for local students and $80,000 per year for non-local students.  In 2011, the Government injected $250 million into the Fund to extend the benefit to students of full-time publicly-funded sub-degree programs offered by five institutions ( the programmesCity University of Hong Kong, the Education University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, HKAPA and the Vocational Training Council) from 2011/12 academic year onwards.  The scholarship award for these sub-degree students is between $20,000 to $30,000 per year for both local and non-local students.

Eligibility:  Applicants must meet the following guidelines

Talent Development Scholarship (TDS): To be eligible for the TDS, students should:

·         be currently pursuing full-time publicly-funded/UGC-funded undergraduate and postgraduate program;

·         achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.0 or equivalent, or

·         have a recommendation from respective supervisor(s) (applicable for postgraduate research students); and

·         receive an award in either inter-institution, local, regional or national event within recent three years (from January 1, 2012 – present) in one of the following areas with documentary proof: Sports and games; Music and performing arts; Culture, arts and design; or Innovation, science, and technology.

Reaching Out Award (ROA): To be eligible to apply for the ROA, students should:

·         Be currently pursuing full-time publicly-funded/UGC-funded undergraduate or postgraduate program;

·         Achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.0 or equivalent, or

·         Have a recommendation from respective supervisor(s) (applicable for postgraduate research students); and

·         Participate in an outreaching activity that is conducted outside Hong Kong in the academic year 2016-17 with proof of admission/enrolment.

Endeavour Merit Award: EMA shall be made on the basis of merits to students with SEN who:

·         are currently pursuing full-time publicly-funded/UGC-funded undergraduate or postgraduate program;

·         achieve a minimum CGPA of 2.5 or equivalent, or

·         have a recommendation from respective supervisor(s) (applicable for postgraduate research students); and

·         are able to provide documentary proof of SEN

Nationality:  Local and international students can apply for the scholarships.

Water Advanced Research and Innovation Fellowship Program

Recognizing that Water is of fundamental importance for human development, the environment and the economy, and therefore needs to feature prominently in the development agenda of both India and the United States; the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), the Daugherty Water for Food Institute (DWFI) and the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) have partnered to nurture cooperation between students and scientists from both countries. The Water Advanced Research & Innovation (WARI) Fellowship Program - a dynamic and transformative program has thus been developed to foster long term Indo-American science and technology partnerships.

Eligibility

For Student Internships

* Indian citizens currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Water Science & Engineering at a recognized institution of higher education and learning in India;

Age: Upto 32 years as on 31 December 2016

For Fellowships

* Indian citizens having Ph.D. in Water Science & Engineering.

* Applicants must be able of doing independent research work and have published in internationally recognized academic journals

* Open to applicants working in the fields of Water resources, water chemistry and environmental engineering.

Prime Minister’s Fellowship Scheme For Doctoral Research


PrimeMinister’s Fellowship Scheme For Doctoral Research : In the Year of Science, to attract talent for Doctoral Research and to boost industrial research by academic institutions, the government and industry have jointly developed a scheme to provide double scholarships to PhD Fellows. Applications are invited from already registered PhD fellows for academic year 2012 in areas of research of Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture and Medicine from any recognized Indian University or Institute or research laboratory in India for award of Prime Minister’s Fellowship for Doctoral Research for a maximum period of four years to do research on industry-relevant topics leading to awarding of PhD degree. ELIGIBILITY

* Only those who have already registered for PhD in 2012 in any recognized university or institution or research laboratory will be eligible to apply

* The registered PhD Fellows should have already identified a broad area of research which has practical relevance and industrial application

* They should also have identified an industry partner who is willing to sponsor their research

* The candidate and the proposed research topic should qualify on criteria of excellence and relevance

* The candidate should have proven outstanding track record

* The candidate should be willing to work in / with industry on specific projects

AMOUNT & DURATION OF FELLOWSHIP

* 100 Fellowships will be awarded every year, starting from 2012

* Duration of Fellowships will be four years

* Fellowship Amount will be approximately Rs 6 lakh per annum (government scholarship of approximately Rs 3 lakh per annum being equivalent to the prevailing norms for JRF / SRF. Sponsoring industry will match government scholarship)

* If selected to receive the Prime Minister’s Fellowship for Doctoral Research, the candidate will cease to receive any other scholarship which he / she may be receiving at present

* A joint committee of SERB and CII, to be called Apex Council, will conduct transparent selection and monitoring of projects

* The availability of Prime Minister’s Fellowship Scheme for Doctoral Research will be advertised on the website of SERB and CII. Institutions may consider setting up appropriate mechanisms at their end to spread awareness among prospective candidates about this new Fellowship scheme
