Before you click off this page, check out the Family FUNdamentals activity files below. These are great literacy activities that not only look at letters & sounds, but comprehension, fluency, reading, and phonemic awareness (rhyming, syllables, blending & segmenting words). They come from the Michigan Department of Education.
Please don't shy away from the "Pre-Kdg" activities--check them out. While a few of the activities might seem too "easy" for your child, please know that most are still applicable and the kids can learn from those too! The same goes with the 1st grade activities--make sure your child can handle these activities and aren't too hard to frustrate them. Just use your best judgment--if you aren't sure, give it a shot, but if it gets too frustrating for your child, don't try to push them harder as they'll just shut down and not want to do it at all.
