The Moorhead Junior Varsity football team has had a phenomenal start to their season, exceeding the expected limits for the team. Currently their record is 3-1. The JV team last year did really well, so this year high standards were set. With new incoming freshmen, it was hard to predict how the season would go, but all the JV players work really hard at practice so big improvements have been made.

Last Monday, the Spuds continued their winning ways as they beat Fargo South 22-6 in front of their fans on their home field. The Spuds scored three touchdowns along with two 2-point conversions. The first touchdown was scored by Nick Johnson. Johnson is a junior and plays slot back. Wyatt Gunkel, the quarterback for moorhead's JV team, threw a pass to Tommy Horan and scored a 2 point conversion. Another touchdown was scored soon after but this time it was by Horan. Horan, number 7, plays wide receiver for the JV spuds team. The 2 point conversion was

an incomplete pass and no points were scored. The third touchdown was scored by Noah Anderson, number 18. Anderson plays slot back and is a junior at MHS.

Shawn Gardner is on the JV football team, he plays tight end. The season has had an amazing beginning but Gardener knows there is much more room for improvement. “So far this season we have been doing great! Hopefully we can continue to win and keep our record with only one loss.” Shawn said. As the team continues to win games their relationships get closer as they celebrate more and more. “Everyone on the team works really hard and all of the players are really close to each other. It is like we are all family and we help each other in any way we can, on and off the field.”

The Spuds fans have loved watching the Spuds continue to win, many people are keeping their hopes high and believe the spuds will keep their great record. The spuds train very hard each week and it has definitely paid off.. Each and everyday, the athletes on the spuds JV football team set great examples for the whole school and others around them.
