As the end of the Nordic Ski season is fast approaching, the ski team is looking ahead towards sections. This is only the second year Moorhead High School has a supported a ski team. Last year mainly being a year to build the program the team still had great success. More recently the Girls Nordic Ski team finished first and the Boys finished second at the North Star Classic, this was the first win in program history.

Although the teams success depends mainly on individual performance, the athletes all work together as one. With sections approaching Olivia Watson believes the team won’t look back at last year and just focus on giving it their all this year. Sections took place on February sixth in Maple Log. Kate Ludwig, Sofie overturf, and Isaac Wicklund all qualified to compete at the state tournament.

Growth has been a major goal all year for the ski team. Constantly wanting to improve from last year and even from the last event. Both the Boys and Girls Teams often have skiing retreats where they spend the weekend in cabins and ski. Watson loves how dedicated the coaches are to improving the sport and the ski retreats not only help with that but also with team bonding. “The coaches dedication really motivated us to do well.” Overall the program has great things in store for the future.
