Welcome to Troops 737, “The Mountain Troops”. We are two separate Scout Troops, both referred to as Troop 737; one Troop for boys (referred to as 737), and one Troop for girls. Our Troops serve Evergreen, Conifer, Morrison, Idaho Springs, Bergen Park, and other Front Range mountain communities.

Troops 737 are highly active Troops that strive for outdoor activities and camping year-round as well as summer camps, high adventure trips, and other Scout activities. Monthly activities may include hiking, fishing, the Scout Show, shooting sports, ice climbing, quinzee camping, caving, and winter sports just to name a few.

Typical Summer camps can be either in-state or out-of-state depending on where the Scouts would like to attend. Previous in-state Summer camp destinations have been Peaceful Valley and Camp Alexander. Previous out-of-state camp destinations have been Bartlett Scout Reservation (Idaho), Medicine Mountain Scout Ranch (South Dakota), and Island Park Scout Camp (Idaho).

In addition to regular Summer camps, Troops 737 frequently send crews of Scouts to Philmont Scout Ranch (New Mexico), Northern Tier High Adventure (Minnesota), and Sea Base (Florida).

As much as our Scouts love to camp and be outdoors, they are also committed to rank advancement. Advancement nights are held monthly as a tool to help Scouts achieve their Scouting goals. These meetings give Scouts an opportunity to work on advancement and merit badge requirements. Older Scouts that have achieved First Class rank are available to assist younger Scouts along the Trail to First Class and, at the same time, merit badge counselors are available to help older Scouts with their Star, Life, and Eagle ranks.

Troops 737 are Scout-led Troops with a focus on Scout leadership. Senior Patrol Leaders (“SPL”, the highest Scout position) are trained at National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT), also known as “Bighorn”. This training prepares the SPL to lead the troop in planning and scheduling Troop activities. Beyond planning and scheduling activities, Scouts conduct their own meetings, train new Scouts, and plan and cook their own meals while on campouts.

Adult leadership also plays a vital role in the Troops’ success. The most important function of the adult leadership of the Troops is to monitor activities for safety.  Additionally, the Scoutmasters work closely with the SPL’s to offer leadership guidance and advice to help get the most out of the Scouting experience. Other adult leaders are charged with responsibilities, such as record-keeping, treasurer duties, and driving just to name a few.
