To the Honorable the President and
other members of the Senate of the State
of South Carolina ~
The Petition of the undersigned residents in the parish of
Saint Andrews pray your honorable body that the
mode of electing commissioners of the road may
be altered from the present mode, which they deem
a very partial one (whenever a vacancy happened the
board filling up themselves) be a mode more consonant to
the interests of the parishoners which mode they would
humbly submit to your honorable body would be to
permit every citizen in the parish to vote for such ap-
pointment, by means whereof the commissioners would
not only be more conveniently located in a geographi-
cal point of view, but the roads and highways of the
parish be kept in much better order. By extending relief
to your petitioners in the premises they [xxx]duty
bound will ever pray-
