Mr. Irey graduated Farmington Harrison High School and enrolled in Michigan State University in pursuit of a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies in Social Science (IDS) and a degree in History as well. He graduated in the Spring of 2011 with two majors: IDS, with a Specialization in International Studies and a Cognate in Economics, as well as a second degree in History. Upon graduation from MSU Mr. Irey completed his student teaching at Cass Technical High School during the 2011-12 school year. In December 2017, Mr. Irey completed a Masters Degree in Special Education with an endorsement in Learning Disabilities through Michigan State University. In December of 2024, Mr. Irey completed an Education Specialist Degree in Special Education Administration with Central Office Approval through Way State University.
Mr. Irey has been coaching at Walled Lake Northern since the 2011-12 school year and is the Head Coach of the Men's and Women's Swim and Dive teams. He swam competitively from 1993-2006 culminating his swimming career with the Harrison-Farmington High School Phoenix.Â
Mr. Irey is interested in Classic Cars, Michigan State Athletics, and Detroit Red Wings Hockey. Some of his favorite shows are NCIS, Pawn Stars, American Pickers, Graceland, The Last Ship and re-runs of Boy Meets World.
Mr. Irey's top three favorite US cities to visit are Boston, Washington DC, and Venice, FL.
