TCApps Gmail News: Increased Mailbox size and Labs availability

posted Jul 20, 2011, 9:26 AM by Patrizia Magni   [ updated Sep 2, 2011, 12:10 PM ]

Increased TC Gmail Size: Google has provided us with 7.6 Gigabytes of mail storage, which is about 20 times what TC offered with its Exchange system. Google will now be increasing each individual’s mailbox size to 25 GB by the end of this month.

Activation of the Google Labs environment: We have activated Google Labs, which allows individuals to turn on cool new features in Gmail and Calendar. Be aware that this is a testing ground for experimental features that aren't quite ready for primetime. They may change, break or disappear at any time.
You can view the available Labs within your account by selecting your settings options in your Gmail and clicking on a tab labeled Labs. Then you can select those that you would like to enable, but remember that this is an experimental environment and any lab you use now may not be available in the future. In contrast, popular labs tend to migrate into the Gmail environment.

Note that the CIS Help Desk will be able to provide only limited support for Labs features, because Google does not provide support for them.

Future Improvements:
Gmail Face Lift: Google is updating its Gmail interface to appear more like the consumer (personal) version of your Gmail. Features and functionalities will remain consistent, but the look is intended to increase productivity within Gmail.
Take a look at a preview of the new Gmail interface here:
