The Geography of California This site is all about the geography of California. Scroll down and it gives a short description of the physical features of the different California regions.

Explore California. This site provides maps of your regions. Scroll down to find the Central Coast, Desert, High Sierra, and Central Valley. When you find your region, click on "regional maps". Look at the maps for labels describing physical features.

The California Geotour: This site is an interactive index of Web pages of geologic field trip guides and related websites compiled by the California Geological Survey. The Geotour is organized by geological regions. Scroll down to find websites that include geologic information, photographs, maps, text and directions for local natural features.

Note 36 is a .pdf file that has a written description of each of the geological regions of California.

Climate: What is the weather like? (ex: hot, rainy, mild, snowy) There are three websites to check for information on climate. Check them out below by reading the description then clicking on the link.

Climate and Topography of California. This site gives a description of the different types of climate in California. See if you can figure out which type of climate your region has.

Study California - Weather and Climate. This is a very short 1 page description of the beautiful California weather by regions.

City Data - Climate This site gives a description of the 4 main climactic regions. See if you can map that to your geographic regions using the cities, landforms and counties mentioned.

Rainfall and Temperature: What is the temperature like during the year? How much rain does the area get? Fill in the chart on your CA Regions worksheet. Find the average high and low temperatures for the months of Jan., Apr., July., and Oct. Find the average rainfall for the same months.

Plants and Animals: What kind of plants and animals does this region have that the others do not have? (ex: fish, bears, coyote or joshua trees, cactus, redwoods). Click on each of the links below to find information on the plant and animal life in the different regions as well as some climate and geology information.

Attractions: What fun things can you do or see in this region? (ex: surf, ski, Yosemite National Park) What would you like to do if you were visiting this region?

California Tourist Guide: This site has tourist attractions organized by regions. First click on Northern, Central or Southern California in the tabs at the top. Then click on the region and links you are interested in.

See California - Popular places to see in the various regions of California. Using your mouse, point to but don't click on the "Cities and Towns" tab at the top of the page. The drop down menu will allow you to select Northern, Central or Southern California as well as Beaches, Deserts, Mountains and Wine Regions.

Industry and Natural Resouces: What business brings in the most income for this region? (ex: agriculture, movies, farming, electronics) What natural resources does it have? (ex: oil, coal)

City Data California - This link has data for all of California. Scroll down and find the "Industry" heading. Click on this to find more information on California's leading industries. Use the cities, geography and county information to determine the regions.
