Since our very first sibling picnic in the summer of 2011, this has been our favorite community event to put together for you. Giving families, and ourselves, the opportunity to remember the children we hold in our hearts while also reveling in their siblings who fill our lives with wild colors, has been one of the greatest joys and honors for us here at Sweet Pea Project. We’ve had the immense pleasure and privilege to see your kids romping around each summer- at Hands on House and then Lititz Springs Park and then Dutch Wonderland and now Mt Gretna Lake- and we hope all of you will join us out there at the lake for one final picnic this summer. Sunday, June 2. Mt Gretna Lake. We can’t wait to see you there.

As you well know, there is no greater pain for a parent than the pain of outliving their child. But we parents are not the only ones who suffer. The death of a baby can be very difficult on our surviving children, and even our subsequent children. These kids witness their parents wrestling with overwhelming grief, and struggle with their own feelings of sadness and confusion. They deserve a day just to be carefree children, playing with their parents in the sunshine and having fun, and that is what our annual children's events are all about.

Sweet Pea Project will hold this special event for children who have lost a brother or sister during pregnancy or infancy on SUNDAY, June 2, 2023. Parents are invited to bring their surviving and subsequent children to Mt Gretna Lake in Mt Gretna, PA for a day of family fun.

A picnic lunch will be served at our pavilion, but Mount Gretna Lake DOES allow outside food to be brought in, so please feel free to pack a cooler and spend the whole day with us- we'll be there from 11:30am until 6:30pm! There is a snack bar as well as boat, beach chair, and inner tube rentals. Shenk's Greenhouse has once again donated flowers for children to plant in honor of their siblings, and this year we'll be providing flower pots for kids to decorate, plant their flower in, and bring home!

We are excited to be able to offer a brand new shirt design for this year's picnic. We went with a fun tie dye this year so that we are bringing ALL the colors to the beach this time! Check them out at and order yours by April 17. All shirts will ship directly to you so that you will be able to toss them over your bathing suit and wear them to the picnic!

Order your shirt now at https://www.bonfire.com/picnic2024/
