A Message from the Desk of Ms. Woodard
Greetings Stiles Families,
What an incredible start to the school year we are having at Stiles Elementary! I want to take a moment to share just how excited I am about all of the wonderful things happening in our school community.
There are so many exciting opportunities and traditions taking place this year! We are continuing to build on what makes Stiles special while also introducing some new opportunities for our students.
New School Store: Our PBIS Team is working hard to manage our new school store! Students will have opportunities to earn rewards and celebrate positive choices throughout the school year.
Student Council: We are putting together a Student Council so our students can have a voice in our school community, develop leadership skills, and help make Stiles an even better place to learn.
School Safety: We have elected our new school Safety Guards. The Safety Guards support our staff and students and help us continue creating a safe and welcoming school environment.
Bonzy Coat Day: All students will be fitted and will receive a free and new coat on November 5th!! We are so excited and grateful to have this opportunity!
After School Literacy Program: We are working to bring an after school literacy program to Stiles! We hope to have this to begin on October 19th. There will be 15 students elected from 3rd grade and another 15 students selected from 4th grade. Permission slips will be sent home for those selected students soon.
Of course, some of our favorite Stiles traditions will continue! Apple Orchard Field Trip, Students of the Month, Our school news anchors, Golden Dustpan Awards, Math and Literacy Night which was a huge success, Multicultural Day, and many other special events will continue to bring our school community together. The school walk-a-thon will be on October 30th. You are invited to come and walk with your students. The times are TBD. You should have or will be receiving a letter for more information, please be on the lookout.
I am excited to announce our upcoming Trunk or Treat. This will be held on October 28th at 5:00. We will begin setting up at 4:30 pm. If you would like to sign up to decorate your trunk and pass out candy please see the front office, we will accept the first 30 trunks!!
Lastly, Please consider joining us on November 9th for our Town Hall meeting. At this meeting we will be transparent regarding our assessment scores and how important it is to work together to grow students academically and socially.
Beginning of the Year iReady Assessments
Our students completed their beginning of the year iReady assessments in both Math and Reading. I am hopeful that each student gave their absolute best effort! These assessments help our teachers understand what students already know, where they may need additional support, and how we can best help each child grow throughout the school year. We have our upcoming OST assessments, which will begin on October 20th. Please make sure your students are getting rest and eating a good breakfast!!
Most importantly, I want you to know how much I am enjoying getting to know our students. I truly can’t tell you how much I enjoy all of the big hugs, smiles, conversations, and classroom visits! Our students have already made such a special impression on me, and I feel incredibly grateful to be their principal this year.
Thank you for sharing our students with me. It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the principal of Stiles Elementary, and I am excited about everything we will accomplish together this year.
