Principal’s Message

October is a BUSY month!!

We have been busy digging into our beginning of the year data and making instructional plans for our students! As we partner together in your child’s education please make sure you have reviewed your child’s interim report! We have parent teacher conferences coming up on October 16th and November 3rd! Have you signed up yet? This is a key part of our partnership! We are starting some volunteer mentoring and tutoring for 3rd and 4th grade through the Children’s Tutoring Initiative! Want to volunteer? Check it out below!

Third graders will take their first round of Ohio State Testing OCtober 14th - 21st! This testing measures their reading achievement specifically towards meeting the requirements of the Third Grade Guarantee. Please the official testing notification letter from our district testing coordinator below.

Our PTA is busy, busy, busy this month! Please check out all the announcements below for Book Fair next week, Grandparent Night next week, our candy drive for Trunk or Treat on October 24th !! We also have another restaurant fundraiser coming up with City BBQ on October 22nd! A portion of sales goes back to our PTA! You do have to purchase your own meals, with the promo code GIVE, we will get 20% towards our school.

We are going strong with being a ‘Rey of Sunshine at Monterey by being RESPONSIBLE, being SAFE and being RESPECTFUL! This week we introduced our ‘Rey of Sunshine postcards! Students who receive one not only will get surprise mail on home, but a chance to win a coin to use in our book vending machine!
