I was able to greatly outreach the goals that I originally made. I am now using these dental lab techniques that I learned daily in my job. Little things such as taking impressions that the dentist normally does, I am now able to do on my own. If we are not sending a dental case to an out of office dental lab I am able to pour up the impressions in dental plaster. The biggest advantage I have gained is with the CEREC crown system. I am now scanning patients mouths daily, and this really speeds up the process of making crowns. This is the area I have especially out achieved my goals. I am also polishing the crowns during the intermediate steps of them milling and being fired in a porcelain oven.
These processes I have learned have especially given me a major advantage over other predental students in my preperations for dental school. I am glad I have had this exposure to dental work, and especially the oppurtunity to work in patients mouths. This was one of the hardest things to learn, especially learning to work around the toungue and lip when taking scans.
