Second Grade Supply List

Mrs. Strapec's Supply List

Dear New Second Grader and Family,

     I hope you have a wonderful summer and are starting to look forward to Second Grade. I am very excited to meet all of you.  To help make your year go smoothly, it would be helpful to have the following  supplies with you when you arrive on the first day of school.  If you have any questions at all about the supplies, please feel free to email me.  Thanks so much and I can't wait to see you soon! 😊

Here are the supplies that you will need for my class.  

1.  A backpack

2.  At least two packages of #2 Pencils with erasers - Please SHARPEN)  Ticonderoga pencils are preferred. (NO decorative pencils please as these jam the sharpeners)

3.  3 Marble Composition Notebooks (NO spirals and NOT College Ruled Please!)

4.  1 plastic supply box to fit in desk (small) -(NO larger than 9"x 6") -  "Spacemaker" boxes are ideal!) (no plastic shoe boxes - they are too big to fit in the desk!)

5.  a  hand held pencil sharpener

6.  2 or 3 rubber erasers (not the type that attach to the pencil.  Those fall off and get lost easily)

7.  1 pair of scissors (Fiskars for kids are best!) (Pointed are preferred)

8. Elmers glue sticks - (2 packages) (the large ones are great!)

9. 1 yellow hi-lighter

10.  1 smock for art class  (an adults old short sleeved shirt works well) (Please be sure name is on the shirt)

11.  2 small boxes of Crayola crayons (24 is a great sized box)

12.  1 pocket folder - Plastic folders hold up best so please get that type if possible

13.  1 box of tissues

14.  1 pad of Post-It notes (size 3 by 3)

15.   2 Dry Erase Markers - blue or black only please

16.  1 pair of headphones or ear buds - to use with our classroom chromebooks - (opened and labeled with  name in a ziplock bag with name written on the ziplock bag as well) - Headphones seem to be more comfortable for second graders.

17.  1 container of Disinfectant Wipes (Examples: Clorox or Lysol) (No baby wipes please)

***Wish List for donated items***

~ 1 roll of paper towels

~ 1 box of quart size ziplock bags

~ 1 box of gallon size ziplock bags

***Other Notes:

~Please send in 2 pictures of your child to be used in the classroom. (Please put name on the back of each picture; they will be returned in June)

~Please be sure to LABEL ALL OF YOUR SUPPLIES (even the smock!) with your NAME.

***Supplies usually run out by winter (pencils, glue sticks, etc.) so you might want to stock up during the back to school sales!

***Also, when picking out backpacks, please try to avoid backpacks with wheels.  Although the lockers are wide, backpacks with wheels are awkward.

~A small nutritious snack is allowed daily.  Sharing isn't allowed due to allergies so please remind your child of this.  Please be sure the snack they being in is something that they can open and manage independently.
