Turn your Markers into Paint
Once an initial drawing is completed, choose sections to color with any water-based marker. Then, using a brush and a small cup of water, activate the marker pigment, causing it to run and blend similar to paint.
Choose to color the entire composition, or strategically color individual sections to create value, color mixing, patterning, or invent your own techniques.
Make Paint out of Food Coloring
Water & Liquid Food Coloring (you can use gel food coloring – but this requires extra stirring)
Add the desired amount of water – the amount of liquid watercolor paint you want to make.
Then to each container add a drop – or two – of food coloring. You are going to have to experiment a little with the colors – as food coloring differs. Make sure you add a drop at a time – food coloring is more powerful than you think!
Paint with Coffee
This is great when focusing on values in neutral tones, just dilute with water.
