ALL DAHS Seniors must complete these three Graduation Requirements:
Your Graduation Portfolio Website: We'll use a graduation portfolio template site that's posted in Google Sites to create a professional website that showcases all of your career qualifications. It's designed with all of the instructions that you'll need as you add your information and materials to your site. Your finished portfolio website will give you everything that you need to start your career path after high school.
Your Senior Interview: In May, you'll have a senior interview experience. The interview will give you some practice sharing all of your high school achievements with a member of our DASD community. It will help you to feel more prepared for future interviews in your career field.
Your Keystone Pathway: If you passed your Keystone Exams, you've met your Keystone Pathway. Your school counselor will be in touch with you to talk with you about your specific pathway plan.
Let's prepare your graduation portfolio and plan for your senior interview!
If you’re currently a student in one of Mrs. Shindledecker’s in-person classes, Cyber English 12, a senior capstone class, an AP Language class, or another DAHS English 12 option; you’ll be creating portfolios and preparing for interviews in those classes.
If you’re NOT taking an English class here at DAHS, you’ll be completing your portfolio and preparing for your senior interview with Mrs. Shindledecker online, using Google Classroom. ALL Dual Enrollment students and seniors without a capstone or year-long DAHS English course MUST join Mrs. Shindledecker’s Graduation Portfolio Google Classroom!
In all of my senior classes (online and in person), one of our main projects will be to create your graduation portfolio, which we’ll be designing with Google Sites. This portfolio will showcase all of the requirements on the Graduation Project Checklist.
Dual enrollment students who are not taking a senior capstone class will also need to join the Senior Portfolio Google Classroom in order to complete these graduation requirements.
For most of us, creating the Google Site just requires that we organize these materials that you’ve been collecting since your freshman year. We’ll walk through each step of the process together, adding elements to your site throughout the year.
After you’ve finished designing your Google Site, you’ll be completing a senior interview. That interview will take place in the spring, and you have multiple options for meeting this requirement. You'll come to school in person to be interviewed by a member of our DuBois education and business community, sharing your portfolio during that conversation.
You will also need to complete your Keystone Pathway, and school counselors will have individual information for each senior regarding your progress toward that goal.
Creating your portfolio website, completing a senior interview, and completing your Keystone Pathway are requirements for graduation, so be sure to keep up with the activities posted in Google Classroom. I’m available to help or meet with you during fifth and seventh periods. We could meet in person, use Google Meet, or chat on the phone.
I’m looking forward to guiding you through these final portfolio and interview projects! Together, we can create a professional product that will help you to transition from DAHS to the exciting world of life after high school and all of the adventures yet to come.
