FAQ

Why did we choose Chromebooks?

  • Chromebooks are inexpensive, fast and reliable tools for the classroom. We can use Google Apps for Education and the students will be able to collaborate on projects, share work with their teachers, read online books using Google Books, create documents, presentations and spreadsheets. Google Apps offers even more options (editing images, video editing, typing practice, creating study tools, etc.) The Google Management Console allows STS to control each device and push out content.

What is Google Apps for Education?

  • Google created an e-learning environment for schools. We pay a license fee per Chromebook and we can use the Management System for Google Apps. The students get 30 GB of cloud space, each document or presentation they create is automatically saved. Click here for details on all the benefits.

What kind of training will the students receive?

  • They will learn how to log in and use Google Drive to create documents and share their work with teachers. This training will continue in computer class till the end of the year. Mrs. Green will be assisting them with any Google Drive or Google Classroom questions they might have.

What happens if the Chromebook breaks?

  • Please look at Chromebook policy in the Forms Tab

Can anyone else log into my child's Chromebook?

  • The only log in that will work is an stsashburn (school) account.

Does my child keep his/ her Chromebook?

  • Each student will turn in their Chromebook at the end of every school year. The school will return it in August. When a student graduates from STS they will turn their device in to be wiped clean of the Management Console and then keep the Chromebook.
