The century mug club is an exciting way to try a lot of awesome beers. Just start by asking your bartender or server for a new list. Enjoy selections from our featured breweries, and your progress will be tracked. After you have completed the list, you will be rewarded with your own beautifully handcrafted mug. There is no time limit or fee to participate. Enjoy!
Featured Breweries:
1.) Abbey de Leffe - The ancestry of this Belgian monastery dates back to 1152. The monks brewed these beers using ingredients found in nature near the Notre Dame de Leffe abbey. All Leffe brands are now brewed at the Stella Artois brewery in Leuven, Belgium.
2.) Abita Brewing Company - This brewery is located in Abita Springs, Louisiana, approximately 30 miles north of New Orleans. The company brews their beers using water from artesian wells found in Abita Springs. It was founded in 1986 and is now the 24th largest brewery in the United States by volume sold.
3.) Brasserie d’Achouffe - This Belgian brewery was founded in 1982 in Achouffe, Belgium. These beers with the iconic dwarf adorning their labels are now brewed by Duvel Moortgart.
4.) Anchor Brewing Company - This brewery was officially founded in 1896 in San Francisco, California. It has roots which trace back to the California gold rush. Brewing methods such as dry hopping and open fermentation originated here. They are best known for their famous Anchor Steam beer.
5.) Anderson Valley Brewing Company - This was founded in 1987 in Boonville, California. Their name pays homage to the Anderson Valley of Mendocino County. An environmentally conscious brewery, they installed a solar-powered system in 2006 which provides nearly half of the brewery’s power demand.
6.) Avery Brewing Company - This company was incorporated in 1993, and began producing beer from a 7 barrel tank. Their production and brewing capacity is substantially larger now. They won their first gold medal at the Great American Beer festival in 1994, and have been producing world class beers ever since.
7.) Ayinger Brewery - This brewery is located in Aying, Bavaria, Germany and was founded in 1877. Aying is located about 15 miles from Munich, and arranges beer festivals in the countryside around Munich. As Ayinger is not located in Munich, it is not a participating brewery at Oktoberfest.
8.) Bear Republic Brewing Company - This brewery was created by the Norgrove family, and is located in Sonoma County, California, in the city of Healdsburg. Their award winning brews are some of the most sought after beers in the country.
9.) Bells’ Brewery - Larry Bell founded the Kalamazoo Brewing Company in 1983 as a home-brewing supply shop. Beer began being sold in 1985, and in 2005 the brand was renamed Bell’s. Many of today’s offerings are of the seasonal variety, with their Hopslam variety being particularly revered.
10.) Blue Point Brewing Company - This brewery is located on Long Island in Patchogue, New York and was founded in 1988. Their name pays homage to the famous Blue Point Oysters that are harvested here. They are ranked within the top 50 selling US microbrews, and is considered Long Island’s first modern microbrewery.
11.) Boddington’s - This English bitter beer was introduced in 1778, and is sold in over 30 countries. They are one of the first beers to utilized the iconic “widget can,” which improves the quality of the beer head when poured in a glass.
12.) Bosteel’s Brewery - This Belgian brewery has been in the hands of the Bosteel family for seven generations. Founded in 1791 by Evarist Bosteels in Buggenhout, Belgium, their award-winning beers have gained critical attention worldwide.
13.) Boston Beer Company - The largest craft brewery in the United States is most famous for its Samuel Adams brand of beers. It is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts and was founded in 1984. Two-thirds of its beer is brewed here in the Lehigh Valley.
14.) Boulder Beer Company - Colorado’s first microbrewery was founded in 1979 by two physics professors from the University of Colorado at Boulder. The original site of the brewery was on a small goat farm Northeast of Boulder.
15.) Breckenridge Brewing Company - Colorado’s third microbrewery was founded in 1990 in Breckenridge, Colorado. Operations were expanded to Denver in 1992. They now operate 5 brewpubs in the state of Colorado.
16.) Brooklyn Brewery - This brewery was founded in 1987 in Brooklyn, New York, by Steve Hindy, a former Associated Press correspondent and his downstairs neighbor, Tom Potter. Hindy learned to brew beers from American diplomats while on assignment in Islamic countries, where alcohol is forbidden.
17.) Goose Island Brewery - This Chicago, Illinois brewery was founded in 1988, when the craft beer scene was in its very infant stages. Today, the beers are distributed in 36 states under the Anheuser Busch-InBev flag.
18.) Chimay Brewery - The brewery was founded inside Scourmont Abbey, in Chimay, Belgium, in 1862. It is the first Trappist Brewery to be brewed and bear the Trappist Ale logo, which denotes it as a true Trappist Beer. The water for the beers is drawn from an artesian well located within the monastery.
19.) Clipper City Brewing Company - This brewery was founded in Baltimore, Maryland by Hugh Sisson in 1995. Sisson operated the first brewpub in Maryland, and was instrumental in getting legislation passed to legalize brewpubs there. The beers were rebranded in 2010 with the Heavy Seas label.
20.) Clown Shoes Brewery - Based in Ipswich, Massachusetts, this contract brewer’s name was derived from an unsuccessful submission in a beer naming contest. Their mission is to produce beer without pretension while being free and a little crazy.
21.) Brouwerij Corsendonk - This brewery traces back to the 1400’s where monks in the Corsendonk abbey brewed beers until 1784 when Austrian ruler Josef II closed the abbey. A secular brewery was founded in 1906 to revive the monk’s brewing traditions.
22.) Cricket Hill Brewing Company - This New Jersey brewery was founded in Fairfield in 2002. Their most recent brewers have been American Brewers Guild graduates, and they are noted for adhering to the German purity law of Reinheitsgebot throughout the brewing process.
23.) Sprecher Brewing Company - This brewery was founded in 1985 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Despite brewing a full assortment of microbrews, they are perhaps better known for their premium non-alcoholic sodas.
24.) Dogfish Head Craft Brewery - This Milton, Delaware brewery was founded in 1995 by Sam Calagione, and was named after the area in Maine where Sam spent his summers as a child. As their slogan indicates, Dogfish Head specializes in producing off-centered beers for off-centered people.
25.) Duck-Rabbit Craft Brewery - This brewery was founded in 2004 in Farmville, North Carolina. These dark beer brewing specialists are currently available in 5 states. Their unique logo pays homage to an image from the philosophy book, Philosophical Investigations, which coincides with brewer/owner Paul Philippon’s previous gig as a university Philosophy professor.
26.) Brouwerij Duvel Moortgat - Jan-Leonard Moortgard founded this brewery in 1871 in Steenhuffel, Belgium. This brewery has remained in the family for 4 generations, and is one of the original investors in Brewery Ommegang, the American-Belgian craft brewery.
27.) Flying Dog Brewery - Opened in 1990, this brewery began operations in Aspen, Colorado. They moved the brewing end of operations across the country to Frederick, Maryland in 2006. They are perhaps best known for the interesting label art of Ralph Steadman and the dog references in their unique beers,
28.) Flying Fish Brewing Company - This Cherry Hill, New Jersey brewery was founded in 1995 and is now the largest microbrewery in New Jersey. They have four year-round beers, and a variety of seasonal, some of which are only rarely available.
29.) Founders Brewing Company - Opened in 1997 in Grand Rapids, Michigan by two home brewing experts fresh out of college. Today, the brewery boasts 2 of their seasonal varieties which regularly rank in the top 10 beers in the world, and the brewery itself is regarded as one of the finest in the world as well.
30.) Gaffel Becker & Company - The Becker brothers opened this brewery in Cologne, Germany on 1908. They are most noted for their production of Koelsch beer, which is specifically tied to the Cologne region. In fact, true Koelsch beer is only brewed in Cologne.
31.) Brasserie Grain D’Orge - This artisanal, family-owned brewery was established in the Flanders region of France in 1898. Their 13% ABV Belzebuth offering is one of the strongest ales in the world.
32.) Green Flash Brewing Company - This brewery was founded in 2002 in San Diego, California. They enjoy a cult-like following among beer enthusiasts because of their commitment and passion for crafting cutting edge beers.
33.) Grolsch Brewery - This Dutch brewery was founded in 1615 in Groenlo, Netherlands. The town was then known as Grolle, hence the name, Grolsch, meaning “of Grolle.” It is the second largest brewer in the Netherlands, after Heineken, and the 21st largest producer of beer in the world.
34.) Guinness Brewery - Founded in St. James Gate in Dublin, Ireland in 1759, this is the largest brewer of stout in the world. Their iconic Guinness Draught is a staple in bars worldwide.
35.) Ballast Point Brewing - Founded in 1996 in San Diego, CA by a proprietor of a home brewing supply shop. These real beer lovers make real good beer, and pay homage to their love of fishing by naming their beers after different species of fish.
36.) Harpoon Brewery - This brewery was founded in 1986 in Boston, Massachusetts, and was the first company to obtain a permit to manufacture and sell beer in the commonwealth of Massachusetts in over 25 years. It is the 9th largest craft brewery in the United States and the 16th largest overall brewery.
37.) Harviestoun Brewery Ltd - This small Scottish brewery was founded in 1985 on the Harviestoun estate. They specialize in cask ales and filtered bottled beers. Their freshness profile is explained by the fact they use less than traditional amounts of carbon dioxide during bottling.
38.) Brouwerij Het Anker - This Flemish brewery was originally founded in Mechelen, Belgium in 1471. It was renamed Het Anker which translates to “the anchor” in 1904. It is currently available in 24 countries, with the United States being the largest importer.
39.) Thomas Hooker Brewing Company - Proudly named for the founder of Hartford, this brewery was created in 2003 and is now headquartered in Bloomfield, Connecticut. Their unique hand-crafted beers are available in several eastern states.
40.) Hoppin’ Frog Brewery - This is the concept of owner and established brew master Fred Karm, who has designed and produced more award winning than any other professional brewer in Ohio. He founded the company in 2000, and is located in Akron, Ohio.
41.) Huygue Brewery - This brewery was founded in 1906 in Melle, Belgium by Leon Huygue. Although they brew many beers, they are perhaps best known for Delirium Tremens, with its iconic white ceramic bottle and pink elephants on the label.
42.) Italian Selection - Italy is home to an emerging craft beer scene. Please ask you server/bartender for our current fresh Italian beer offering.
43.) Kiuchi Brewery - This brewery was founded in 1823 by Kiuchi Gihei, the headman of Kounosu village, in Naka, Japan. His family collected rice from farmers as land taxes, and the brewery was created in part to use the remaining stocks of rice from the warehouse.
44.) Brouwerij De Koningshoven - This Trappist brewery was founded within the walls of the Koeningshoven abbey in 1884 in Berkel-Enschot, Netherlands. The beers are produced under the La Trappe name, and it is the only brewery permitted to bear the Authentic Trappist logo outside of Belgium.
45.) Lancaster Brewing Company - In the early 1800’s, Lancaster county, PA produced 7% of the country’s beer. The last brewery in Lancaster ceased operations in 1956. This company was created in 1995 to recreate the rich brewing tradition associated with the area.
46.) Left Hand Brewing Company - This brewer was incorporated as Indian Peaks Brewing Company in 1993 in Longmount, Colorado. After finding out that this name was already in use by another brewery, their name was changed to Left Hand, in honor of Chief Niwot (the Arapahoe word for “left hand”) whose tribe wintered in the local area.
47.) Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company - This brewery was founded in 1867 and based in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. They maintained operations during Prohibition by bottling soda and “near beer.” Their products are affectionately referred to as Leinies.
48.) Brouwerij Lindeman’s - This brewery opened in 1811 in the small town of Vlezenbeek, Belgium. They specifically produce limbic beers, which are noted for their sour taste. Oftentimes they are enhanced with fruit extracts before bottling. In 1979 this became the first brand of lambics to be imported to the United States.
49.) Long Trail Brewing Company - This brewery was founded in 1989 in Bridgewaters, Vermont. It is only outsold by Budweiser in its home state, and is now available in several eastern states. It also produces the Otter Creek and Wolaver’s brands.
50.) Lost Coast Brewing Company - A rare instance of a female-owned microbrewery, the 46th largest brewery in the US was founded in 1990 in Eureka, California, the principal city and county seat of 1
51.) Magic Hat Brewing Company - Founded in South Burlington, Vermont in 1994, this brewery now produces over 150,000 barrels of beer per year. They have a full lineup of year round, seasonal, and special brews.
52.) AleSmith Brewing Company - Inspired by the classic styles of brewing in Belgium and England, AleSmith is a growing artisan brewery that was founded in 1995 in San Diego, CA. These beers are only available in kegs or in larger, bottle conditioned bottles.
53.) New Holland Brewing Company - This brewery was founded in Holland, Michigan in 1997. The company owns a microbrewery, a distillery, and a brewpub in downtown Holland. This microbrewery has evolved from a scrappy two-man start-up to a thriving regional craft brewery.
54.) North Coast Brewing Company - A pioneer in the craft beer movement, they opened in 1988 as a local brewpub in the historic town of Fort Bragg, located on California’s Mendocino Coast. The brewery has developed a strong reputation for quality, having won more than 70 awards in regional and national competitions.
55.) Brewery Ommegang - This brewery began producing Belgian-style beers in 1997. They are located in Cooperstown, New York. The building was built from the ground up based upon traditional Belgian farmhouse architecture and set on a former hop farm near the birthplace of baseball.
56.) Oskar Blues Brewery - This brewery was founded in 1997 in Lyons, Colorado, which is just west of Longmount. They are perhaps best known for becoming the first US craft brewer to brew and can their own small batch beers, which they have done since 2002.
57.) Oud Beersel - This is an artisanal limbic brewery founded in 1882 in Beersel, Belgium. The brewery remained within the family, until brewing was stopped in 2002 due to financial problems. Brewing activity was resumed in 2005, driven by a local interest to revive the tradition of sour beers.
58.) Spring House Brewing Company - This Lancaster county brewing company is located in a barn in Conestoga, PA. They offer a wide variety of styles and are currently only available in Pennsylvania.
59.) Great Lakes Brewing Company - This Cleveland, OH-based brewery and brewpub has been in operation since 1988. All of their beers are brewed in accordance with the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516, and is now one of the 30 largest breweries in the United States.
60.) Dark Horse Brewing Company - This microbrewery is located in Marshall, Michigan and was founded in 1997. A recent expansion dramatically increased brewing capacity, and the beers are now available in several east coast states.
61.) HiJinx Brewing Company - Curt Keck, an Allentown, PA-based brewer, has homebrewing roots tracing back at least 15 years, winning several medals for his finely crafted ales. Now he has a fully licensed outfit and is making his small batch brews available to the public.
62.) Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project - These beers are made courtesy of tenant brewers, in which they don’t have their own brewing facility. They simply use the brewing facilities of another brewery: Buzzard’s Bay Brewing in Westport, Massachusetts. The project was created in 2008.
63.) Free Will Brewing Company - This brewery was founded in Perkasie, PA in 2010. The ceiling height of the brewery mandates that the brew kettles are very small. These subsequent super-small batches are some of the best local beers available.
64.) Rogue Ales - This craft brewery was founded in Ashland, Oregon in 1988. Their second brewpub was opened a year later in Newport, Oregon, where they are now headquartered. They have been involved with collaborations such as with Chef Morimoto of Iron Chef fame.
65.) Samuel Smith’s Old Brewery - This independent brewery is Yorkshire’s oldest, founded in Tadcaster, England in 1758. It is also the only surviving independent brewery there, and still employs the traditional Yorkshire Square fermenting system in their brewing.
66.) Sapporo Breweries Limited - This brewery from Sapporo, Haikkodo, Japan was founded in 1876. Most of the Sapporo sold in North America is actually produced and bottled at the Sleeman brewery in Ontario, Canada. They are noted for their iconic tall silver can.
67.) G. Schneider & Sohn - This brewery was founded by Georg Schneider in Kelheim, Germany in 1872. It was the former site of the Weisses Brauhaus, the oldest wheat beer brewery in the city. Their entire product line consists of top-fermented wheat beers.
68.) Round Guys Brewing Company - This Lansdale, PA brewery represents two long-time beer lovers who want to make great hand-crafted beer and share it with you. Lansdale was chosen as the site as it is roughly halfway between their respective homes.
69.) Shipyard Brewing Company - This microbrewery was founded in Portland, Maine in 1994. It is the 15th largest Microbrewery in the United States, and the 3rd largest in New England, after Boston Beer Company and Harpoon Brewery. They also own the Sea Dog company of beers.
70.) Sierra Nevada Brewing Company - The 6th largest brewing company in the United States was founded in Chico, California in 1980. Their Pale Ale is the second best selling craft beer in America, trailing only Samuel Adams Boston Lager. A second brewing facility is scheduled to be open in 2014.
71.) Voodoo Brewing Company - This Meadville, PA brewer has taken over a decade of brewing experience, their quirky personalities and wrapped it up into a line of beers oriented around what they feel are fun, flavorful, and thought-provoking.
72.) Sint Bernardus - The name pays homage to the Refuge Notre Dame de St. Bernard, a small farm in Watou, Belgium that served as a temporary home of the Catsberg Abbey community. Anti-clerical policy necessitated a move out of France for the abbey in the late 19th century. Their Trappist-style beers are close replicas of the hard-to-obtain St. Sixtus beers.
73.) Sixpoint Craft Ales - This brewery was founded in Brooklyn, New York in 2004. The logo adorning their beers pays homage to the once common practice of brewers branding their wooden barrels with a six-pointed star to denote the purity of their product.
74.) Sly Fox Brewery - Founded in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania in 1995, their name is derived from the tradition of fox hunting in the Chester County area. The brewery hosts an annual goat race, where the winning goat gets the brewery’s annual Maibock named in its honor.
75.) Smuttynose Brewing Company - New Hampshire largest microbrewery was founded in the town of Portsmouth in 1994. It is named after Smuttynose Island, a 25 acre island which is part of the Isles of Shoals. These tiny islands straddle the border of the states of Maine and New Hampshire.
76.) Southampton Publick House - Located in Southampton, New York, the Southampton Publick House is a landmark for beer. Since the 1800’s, beer has been created and served in the Publick House’s previous incarnations as a speakeasy, watering hole, and restaurant. The current era of the Publick House started in 1996.
77.) Southern Tier Brewing Company - In operation since 2002, this Lakewood, New York brewery has grown to produce nearly 50,000 barrels of beer annually. The company is named after the southern tier of New York, which refers to the counties of New York State west of the Catskill Mountains along the northern border of Pennsylvania.
78.) Stella Artois - This was introduced in 1926 and was originally from Leuven, Belgium. The Anno 1336 on the label refers to the origin of brewing in the city of Leuven. It is imported and distributed in the United States by Anheuser-Busch InBev.
79.) Stone Brewing Company - Founded in 1996 in San Marcos, California and now Escondido, California, it is the 14th largest craft brewer in the United States. An expansion has been planned to increase its brewing capacity to 500,000 barrels per year.
80.) Stoudt’s Brewery - This was one of Pennsylvania’s first microbreweries, founded in 1987 and located in Adamstown, Pennsylvania, in historic Lancaster county. An antique mall connected to the restaurant houses one of the largest selections of antiques on the east coast.
81.) Summit Brewing Company - This privately owned craft brewing company from St. Paul, Minnesota was founded in 1986. At 80,000 barrels per year, Summit ranks amongst the top 50 brewers per output in the United States.
82.) River Horse Brewing Company - This brewery was founded in 1996 in Lambertville, NJ. Their iconic hippopotamus on their label art pays homage to the Greek translation of river horse. They plan on moving the brewery to a larger facility in Ewing, NJ soon.
83.) Terrapin Beer Company - This brewing company was founded in Athens, Georgia in 2002. The name derives from the Grateful Dead song, “Terrapin Station,” as one of the owners is a dead-head. Bigger beers have evolved into their arsenal in 2004, after a Georgia law which prohibited brewing malt beverages in excess of 6.0% was repealed.
84.) Theakston Brewery - Founded in Masham, North Yorkshire, England in 1827, the family repurchased the brewery in 2004 from Scottish & Newscastle. Its Old Peculier ale was named after the peculier of Masham, a parish just outside the jurisdiction of a diocese.
85.) Thirsty Dog Brewing Company - Established in 1997 in Akron, Ohio, their beers are meticuloiusly hand crafted in small batches. Their award-winning beers are created with high quality malted barley along with select American and European hops.
86.) Thomas Creek Brewery - Situated in the heart of upstate South Carolina, it was founded in the town of Greenville in 1998. Brewer Tom Davis has an outstanding arsenal of both year and seasonal ales and lager, winning the hearts and taste buds of people all over the Southeast.
87.) Brouwerij Timmermans - This lambic brewery was founded in 1781 and still operates today at the same premises, in Itterbeek, Belgium. Their strawberry flavored lambic is particularly notable.
88.) Troegs Brewing Company - This brewery was founded in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1996. Troegs is a combination of the last name of the founders Trogner and the Dutch word kroeg, which means pub. This is a limited distribution company that only delivers to neighboring states to preserve freshness.
89.) Tommyknocker Brewery - Located in the cozy historic mining town of Idaho Springs, Colorado, this brewery was founded in 1994. Steve Indrehus and his skilled staff of brewers consistently turn out quality, award-winning ales and lagers 20 barrels at a time.
90.) Twenty First Ammendment Brewery - This brewery is located in the South Park neighborhood of San Francisco, and was founded in 2000. The name is an obvious reference to the Constituional amendment repealing prohibition. The brewery is located 2 blocks from AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants.
91.) Uinta Brewing Company - This brewery was founded in 1993 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The brewery produces a large number of beers appropriately named after a number of Utah’s cultural and natural icons.
92.) Unibroue -This brewery was founded in 1993 in the Quebec town of Chambly, Canada. The first brewery of its kind on North America, Unibroue’s world class bottle fermented ales are inspired by the great Belgian brewing tradition.
93.) Brouwerij Verhaeghe -Located in Vichte, West Flanders, Belgium, this small brewery was established in 1875. They specialize in brewing Flanders Red Ales, with the legendary Duchess de Bourgogne among the beers in their portfolio.
94.) Victory Brewing Company -This company was founded in 1996 in Downingtown, Pennsylvania in an old Pepperidge Farm bakery. The brewpub was completely remodeled in 2008 and is an absolute must-visit when in the Downingtown area.
95.) Bayerische Staatsbraurei Weihenstephan - A brewery was licensed by the city of Freising, Germany in 1040, thus giving the brewery a credible claim to being the oldest brewery in the world.
96.) Wells & Youngs Brewery - This brewery was formed in 2006 as a result of the merger of the breweries of Charles Wells ltd and Young’s Brewery. It is headquartered in Bedford, United Kingdom. They also do contract brewing for other smaller breweries.
97.) Weyerbacher Brewing Company - This microbrewery was founded in 1995 in Easton, Pennsylvania. The brewery is known for their “huge taste” beers, most with high ABV. They are one of the pioneers of aging beer in wooden casks previously used for aging bourbon.
98.) Wychwood Brewery - This English brewery was founded in 1983 in the town of Witney, Oxfordshire. This is the United Kingdom’s largest brewer of organic ales, and they are particularly noted for their fantasy-based label artwork, inspired by the myths and legends surrounding the medieval Wych Wood Forest.
99.) Cervejaria Sul Brasileira - Producers of Xingu, the Brazilian black beer. This is named after the Xingu River in the Amazon rainforest, and is the product of the fusion of Brazilian and European-born cultures.
100.) Yards Brewing Company - This brewery was founded in 1994 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is a production brewery within the city limits and is the first wind-powered brewery in the state. It moved to its current location on North Delaware Street in 2008.
