Pawcatuck Middle School

Band and Chorus Clinics and Six Flags Trip

Grades 6-8

Dear Students and Families,

We will be having guest clinicians come in and work with the bands and choruses the morning of Thursday, June 6th. All band and chorus students will participate in the clinic, where the guest conductor will provide insight and feedback to improve the students skills and abilities and enhance the quality of our musical performance. (Please note, the band concert is the evening of Thursday, June 6th).

On Friday, June 7th we will have an optional field trip to Six Flags New England for band and chorus students in grades 6-8.

Itinerary:

  • 8:30 AM - Depart PMS
  • 10:30 AM - Arrive at Six Flags
  • 4:00 PM - Depart Six Flags
  • 5:45 PM - Arrive at PMS

Field Trip Cost:

  • The estimated cost of the field trip is roughly $70
    • The exact cost will be determined once the number of students who are participating is known.
    • The deposit payment of $35 is due by Wednesday, April 10th at 8:00 AM
    • The final payment (approximately $35) is due by Wednesday, May 8th
  • Send all payments in clearly marked, sealed envelopes. Make sure the students full name is clearly on the envelope. Checks should be made out to Pawcatuck Middle School.
  • Outside food and drink is not allowed at Six Flags, so students will have to bring money for lunch.

Requirements for students participating in the optional field trip to Six Flags:

  • This music department trip to Six Flags is intended to celebrate the hard work and dedication of students in the PMS bands and choruses. Students who wish to go on the trip must be willing to show that they have earned the privilege.
  • Students may be disqualified from participating in the Six Flags field trip for disciplinary reasons at the discretion of PMS administrators, Mr. Aubin or Mr. Manning. If as student is ‘removed’ from the trip prior to June 7th, any payments would be refunded.
  • Students will be required to follow school policies and directions set by the staff while on the trip, and would be required to “sit-out” part of the trip for failing to do so.
  • In the event of a serious behavior or health issue or if a student is asked to leave the park by Six Flags staff, parents/guardians may need to provide transportation from Agawam.

Capacity

  • Based on the number of busses, there is a limit to how many students can attend. In the unlikely event that we reach the capacity of the trip, priority will be given in the order that deposits are received.

Parent Chaperones

  • Parents are welcomed and encouraged to chaperone. The fee to chaperone is the same as the cost for students.
  • The number of parent chaperones will be based on the number of students who sign up, in the unlikely event that there are not enough spaces, priority will be given in the order that deposits are received.
  • Parent chaperones will be required to monitor their assigned group of students throughout the course of the trip (if not every student goes on a particular ride the chaperone can not leave students to go on the ride). It is suggested that parents not go on rides to be available when students finish at different times. Student safety and supervision is the #1 priority.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Mr. Aubin and Mr. Manning
