Stonefields has changed a lot from what it used to be. First there was a volcano called Maungarei (which means Mt Wellington) that erupted. Then the Maori people lived on Mt Wellington and made a pa. Long after that, the people from the United Kingdom came and lived with the Maori people. The land next to Mt Wellington was bought by the Winstones and became Winstone Quarry. After the quarry was all used up, LandCo bought the quarry land and named it Stonefields. They created a map of how they wanted Stonefields to look and gave it to Fletcher Building to build houses. Finally, the houses and Stonefields School were built.
