Every volunteer—whether you help for one hour or throughout the year—helps create a better school experience for our students.

There is no minimum commitment, no special experience required, and many ways to help.

Whether you have one hour, one day, or a few hours each month, we'd love to have you on our team.

How Do I Get Started?

We'd love to have you volunteer! Most PTA volunteer opportunities are easy to get started with—but some school-day activities require additional approval from the school district.

Volunteering During School Hours

If you'll be volunteering on campus during the school day—for example, helping in a classroom, the library, Project Cornerstone, or other school-day activities—Cupertino Union School District (CUSD) requires all volunteers to complete the following steps before volunteering:

1. Complete Mandated Reporter Training select “Volunteers” under the list of Available Trainings and “Child Abuse Prevention | Volunteers | CA”.

2. Sign the CUSD volunteer agreement

3. Complete Fingerprinting clearance

If you have been scanned for CUSD before let your school site know.

4. Submit TB Assessment.

This is valid for 4 years.
Check with your insurance as they may cover this testing.

Good News! Most PTA Volunteering Doesn't Require These Steps

If you're helping with family events, evening or weekend activities, event setup or cleanup, fundraising, communications, or other volunteer opportunities outside of school hours, you do not need to complete the district volunteer requirements.

These opportunities are a great way to get involved without needing district clearance.

Do I have to volunteer regularly?

No! Many volunteers help with just one event each year.

Do I need previous experience?

No. We'll provide everything you need.

I work full-time. Can I still volunteer?

Absolutely. Many opportunities are evenings, weekends, or can be done from home.

My English isn't perfect. Can I volunteer?

Yes! Stocklmeir is an international community, and we'd love your help.

Can grandparents or other family members volunteer?

Yes! Grandparents and other family members are welcome to volunteer.

Do I need to complete volunteer requirements before I can help?

Only for certain volunteer roles. If you'll be volunteering on campus during the school day (such as helping in the classroom, the library, or other school-day activities), Cupertino Union School District requires volunteers to complete a Volunteer Information & Technology Agreement, fingerprint/background clearance, and TB clearance before volunteering.

For most PTA volunteer opportunities—including family events, evening and weekend activities, event setup, and many ways to help from home—these requirements do not apply.

Can I volunteer in my child's classroom?

Many classroom opportunities are coordinated through the teacher or Room Parent. Others are organized by the PTA.
