FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Questions are frequently asked regarding the following subjects. I hope you find this page helpful! If you have questions about anything not covered here please feel free to ask.
CARPOOLS/DAYCARE
Parents are to list everyone who is in their carpool along with the name of drivers and days. Please send in your child’s folder on the first day. If your child is attending daycare, please send a list with the days he or she will be going to daycare after class.
NOTIFICATION
Parents must notify us or the school office when a student is going home in some way other than the normal routine or when he or she is going to be absent. *If you child is going to Daycare, please write a note listing the days they will be staying there.
FOLDERS
A student is responsible for his or her own take home folder. They are to follow a two-step instruction upon entering the classroom which includes removing the folder from the book bag and placing it on the desk. Any written communication between home and school should be put inside the folder. (PLEASE allow your child to take care of his or her own responsibilities including putting bags, coats and hats where they belong)
LEADER
Each week a student is “Leader of the Week”. The children look forward to this responsibility. It involves leading at circle time, leading the student line at recess, gym and dismissal time and sometimes a few other special duties. Watch the calendar for your child’s name. THIS DOES NOT INVOLVE SNACKS. All responsibilities are taken care of in the classroom.
SHARING
Sharing will be every Thursday for the 2 day class and every Friday for the 3 day class. The students are to bring something from home to share with the class that begins with the letter of the week. If you cannot find anything that pertains to the letter, you may help your child choose some other item. Please do not send in items to be passed out to the students. Thank you!
SNACKS
Children may bring a simple snack to share with the class on their birthdays. Otherwise, snacks are supplied occasionally by the teacher to teach a lesson or to celebrate a special day.
BIRTHDAYS
Student’s birthdays are recognized during the school year. Summer birthdays are celebrated in January and February as half birthdays. Weekend and Holiday birthdays are celebrated as close to the date as possible. It is a tremendous help if you notify us of the day you wish to celebrate your child’s day.
DRESS CODE
Students may wear shorts at any time. When sandals are worn they must have a strap on the back. No flip flops, please! Gym shoes are to be worn on gym days. This is Mondays for the 3-day and Tuesdays for the 2-day class.
REPORT CARDS
Students do not receive report cards in preschool. However, there will be a Pre-K Report followed by a scheduled Parent/Teacher conference in December. In April, there will be an opportunity to request another conference.
INVITATIONS
I ask that students do not pass out party invitations or gifts at school unless the entire class is included. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
