"The Wondrous Web" and "Data and Design ” are the main concepts for Year 10 Computing. Currently we run only the one Y10 subjects which combines most of WoW with some DDD. Some students may choose to accelerate into Year 11 (Unit 1/2) Computing - this would require individual discussion and reference to past results and performance. In Year 10 Information technology students will use the problem solving methodology and a range of Information technology applications to investigate solutions to real world scenarios. Students will learn some of the history of the development of the internet and world wide web. Using many appropriate creative software tools, students will create resources for use on the web. Such as animation graphics and video. The use of html and other web authoring tool to create multimedia websites for many purposes will be investigated and evaluated. Students will also explore the elements of website design, examine the uses of multimedia and HTML for varied purposes and examine how they are adapted to suit the intended audience.
Web design is investigated and tools such as site maps, storyboards and layout diagrams are developed for organisations.
An understanding of HTML and CSS is developed as students create their own web pages.
Tools and skills used will include Dreamweaver, Photoshop and other Adobe tools such as Animate, Photoshop.
Students will develop excel skills for storing, validating, manipulating and presenting data.
Students will use the problem solving methodology to investigate and develop software solutions related to data and web site scenarios.
