The following titles are REQUIRED SUMMER READING. Please read all 3 books, then choose one to write a book report on. For the other two, draw your favorite scene and explain why you enjoyed or appreciated it.

“The Phantom Tollbooth” by Norton Juster. Please purchase the book as it will be used in class for the first month.

“Little House in the Big Woods” by Laura Ingalls Wilder

“St. Benedict, Hero of the Hills” by Mary Fabyan Windeatt. You can purchase it new for $9.99 at Amazon, or used for $2.99.

Please write a book report following the Book Format below this announcement. You can click on the Book Report, download or print it out.

BOOKS TWO AND THREE: Draw your favorite scene and add an explanation of why you chose that scene.

The second task over the summer is to keep a Reading Log. I have added a Reading Log underneath the Book Report . Use this log to keep track of your three books and any other books that you read over the summer. I want to see you reading a lot! There is plenty of time to do that now, so take advantage of it!

I have also added a list of appropriate titles for 5th grade students to encourage your summer reading!
