Attendance/Lettering Policy

STILLWATER SWIMMING/DIVING ATTENDANCE POLICY

You have made a commitment to the swimming and diving program. Your success in the program is directly related to your dedication. The success of the team requires each member to be reliable and dedicated to the team goals

**If the team is practicing, attending a meet or doing any other team activity each team member is expected to be in attendance.

**All team members are expected to be on time for all team functions.

**The coaching staff must be notified prior to the absence (in a timely manner).

**The coaching staff will decide all excused and unexcused absences.

If you violate the policy you will have to suffer the consequences of your action. This will probably include disciplinary removal from meets. Please note: practice attendance is a factor when meet line ups are created.

Lettering Policy

To earn a varsity letter on the Stillwater High School Swimming and Diving Team you must accumulate at least 5 letter credits in a season.

*95% of all practices = 1 credit (unexcused absence voids this credit)

*Attend all meets in their entirety = 1 credit (disciplinary removal voids this credit)

*Earn attendance credit and meet credit in three years= 5 credits

(Can earn one letter with this procedure in career. Must be first letter earned.)

*Make a section cutoff = 3 credits

*Time to qualify in the top 12 in section meet = 2 credits

*Recruit a swimmer or diver = 1 credit

*Unexcused absence from a practice or meet = loss of 1 credit per incident

*Any swimmer or diver violating MSHSL drug, alcohol or tobacco policies during the season will forfeit their letter.

*The athlete must demonstrate proper behavior, sportsmanship and citizenship during the season in the opinion of the coaching staff.

*Finish the season in good standing until dismissed by the coach

Any swimmer or diver violating MSHSL drug, alcohol or tobacco policies during their high school period of eligibility with Stillwater will be ineligible for captain. Any captain violating these rules will resign as captain.

Recruiting Promotion: Recruit a swimmer/diver to join the team who completes the season. For your efforts you will receive a complimentary evening, with the coach, at Acapulcos of Stillwater AND one letter credit. Cool!

50 FREESTYLE: 28.20 DIVING: 170 points twice on a 6 dive list and/or 295 points on an 11 dive list

(Diver must have a legal 11 dive list)

******Stillwater may fill each individual section event with 4 people. This may be accomplished using athletes who have not made a section cutoff. An athlete must actually attain the cutoff to earn the letter credit.
