I’m David Makela and for the next school year your son/daughter will be spending their Social Studies learning for the year in my classroom. I am excited for the school year to begin for many reasons, but the biggest reason of them all is to get back to what I love doing most and that is teaching. In years past I've taught U.S. History in both the junior high and high school, World Geography, Civics, American Government, AP Government, Economics, Social Problems and Analysis, Psychology, College Psychology (SWSU), Political Science and American History (out of the University of Minnesota).
Background:
After teaching in Lester Prairie, Minnesota in the 1990s, I'm entering my 25th year here at St. Clair Public Schools where I have enjoyed teaching in the community of St. Clair. I have coached basketball for 30 years and softball 20 years before retiring a few years back. Also in my spare time, I enjoy traveling to games in Lincoln, Nebraska and the Midwest cheering for the University of Nebraska Husker football team each fall. Another side note: I stepped down and retired from throwing darts at the professional level and competing against the best players in the world for over 20 years.
