Moving (your data) Out
Students who will be away from campus all of next year participating in School Year Abroad or an exchange program do NOT need to do anything. We will maintain all of your accounts, and your email will continue to work as though you were a student on campus.
If you are not returning to St. Stephen's next year, there are several things that you can do with your email, files, etc.
Before you leave campus at the end of the year:
save any files from your file server account that you want to keep. You can:
store them on a USB memory stick
burn them to a CD or DVD
upload them to a Google Drive account (either your sstx.org account or another one), DropBox, etc.
it's not possible for you to access these files from off campus, so you must make a copy before you leave
Before August 1:
forward your St. Stephen's incoming email to another Google account. Here's how
consider adding an auto-reply message. Here's how
copy the email and Google Drive files from your St. Stephen's Google account to a Gmail account that is not part of sstx.org. Here's how
copy Contacts
export the contacts from your school account. Here's how
import the contacts into your personal account. Here's how
copy bookmarks from Chrome. Here's how
copy content from many other Google services with Google Takeout (watch this video first)
copy any Google Site that you want to keep. You can copy only to another Google account (within SSTX.org or not). Here's how
You will not be able to access your St. Stephen's Google Apps account (including Gmail) on or after August 1. If you set up email forwarding before August 1, your incoming email will be forwarded to the other account you specify.
Employees who are not returning to the school should follow the same procedures above. You will be notified of the deadlines that apply to departing employees.
