St. Stephen
St. Stephen
Week of October 20th
As always, we have much to accomplish this week in Kindergarten! On Tuesday, we will be attending Mass with the rest of our school community. Please take a moment to talk with your child about being reverent and how we should conduct ourselves in Church.
In ELA, our literature selection this week is Bat Loves the Night. We will use this text to practice visualizing and to build upon our background knowledge (schema). Our focus letters are Dd and Gg, and we will continue identifying their sounds and forming the letters correctly. Our new sight word this week is we. When reading with your child at home, please encourage them to point out sight words we have learned so far in class.
In Math, we will continue working with teen numbers, focusing on understanding that each teen number is made up of one group of ten and some extra ones. We’ll also continue building our overall number sense through hands-on practice and games.
In Science, we will explore spiders, learning about their life cycle and how they spin their webs.
November Saint Projects
In November, each child will present a Saint Project to help us learn about the men and women who devoted their lives to God. On Friday, your child will bring home a paper doll to decorate as their chosen Saint. I will attach additional information to the doll, including the name of the Saint and the date the project will be due.
As the weather turns colder, please make sure your child’s sweaters and sweatshirts are clearly labeled with their name. It becomes very difficult to identify lost clothing when items are not marked.
