Flat Stanley Project:________________________________ Date Due: December 2, 2014
We are currently studying about services and jobs in our community. We have read the book entitled Flat Stanley, a fiction story about a boy who easily travels in the community and other places because he is flat. In one book, he travels to space.
Students will take home their Flat Stanley and his travel log for a week to record and document all the places and things that they do with Flat Stanley. Below are the requirements for a 90 or above:
___Photograph or draw and color pictures of Flat Stanley in all the places you take him in our community or out-of-town.
__Write in his travel journal about all the places Flat Stanley has visited and people he has met. Suggested places to visit in your community: grocery stores, video stores, Walmart, pharmacy, Grandma’s house, mall movie theater, post office, birthday celebrations, friend’s house, Karate class, church, restaurants, football games, park, and ??
__Write about the different jobs of the people you met in our community, their duties, and why their jobs are important. (cashiers, salespeople, waiters, firemen, police officers, postal worker, doctors, dentists, and ??)
__You must have at least 7 entries, neatly written or typed, and spelled correctly. Each entry must include a picture and 1-3 paragraphs about each place/person you visited.
__You may decorate the journal we made in class, or create your own. Some students like to design clothes for Stanley. Be creative, have fun, and try your best. Any questions, contact Miss Dixon, 281-891-8450 or ndixon@springisd.org.
